|Miles|
"What's going on?" I asked.
I was surrounded by mirrors in every direction, with darkness serving as the ceiling and floor my bare feet rested on. I looked up from my wiggling toes, only to find a reflection of myself in a light blue hospital gown. A white bracelet circled my pale wrist, though it had nothing written on it.
"Is any one here?" I called out. An echo followed my words, and with every repetition, one of the mirrors shattered to pieces. Smoke started rising from my hand and when I looked down, a newly lit cigarette was there. I tried to throw it on the ground, but it wouldn't go down.
Sighing, I ran my hand through my hair and put the cigarette in my mouth. I started exploring the dark area that surrounded me, but it just seemed like I was walking in circles. Finally, I reached a stopping point; it was almost like a barrier. My chest started tightening up a I realized there was nowhere for me to go; I was trapped.
I banged my fist in the air, sending ripples through it. Running out of ideas, I pressed the lit cigarette in my hand against the barrier. Suddenly, all the darkness shattered like the glass and opened up into a bright, white space."Miles?" a loving voice called from behind me.
I spun around. "Tris?" He was about five feet away from me and wearing an all white tux. I looked down at my own clothes and saw I was also wearing one, but mine was an inky black.
"I missed you." I said, smiling and running to him. He moved away from me as I got closer every time, however. "Tris? What's wrong?"
"Who do you think you are?" he asked, voice suddenly deeper. "This is your fault! If it wasn't for you, I would still be alive! "
"I'm so sorry!"
He scoffed. "You are a horrible person. One day you're going to wake up and realize you have no one left, and I'm so glad I won't be here to see that day. I'm done with you, Miles." He ripped off the tux to reveal his usual t-shirt and jeans and walked off down the long road that had appeared in front of me. I looked around; I was in a desert surrounded by thunderstorm clouds now.
"Tris, wait!" I called, trying to catch up to him. Somehow he was almost a mile away now. I couldn't move, though, because I was strapped to something. I looked down and saw that I was back in my hospital gown, handcuffed to a hospital bed. I struggled to get out, but I couldn't. "Help!" I screamed. "Somebody help!"
"You have nobody." My family appeared in front of me, the twins on one side, Mom and Dad on the other. They all seemed to be talking to each other, but no sounds were coming out.
"Help me!" I cried trying frantically to get their attention. No one turned around. I sat there, screaming my head off for someone to come for me.
"Help! Save me, please!"
"AHHHH!!" I woke up drenched in sweat in my bed. My head pounded and spun in circles as I fought for air. Hunter ran in with Frankie following behind her. "Miles!" he said. "Are you alright? What happened?"
I stared at him with a look of pure horror spread across my face, panting and gripping my bed sheets for support.
Frankie walked in front of Hunter and sat on the edge of my bed. "Miles, look at me. What happened?"
I let go of my bed sheets and pulled my knees in close to me, hyperventilating. I knew what I had to do to stop this, but I didn't want to. When my condition didn't get any better, I decided I needed to live. "Get....out." I mumbled between breaths.
