"No, no, no. This is a misunderstanding." It hurt when Xavier thought I was the mole. He's just a stranger, I should have no hard feelings of what his thoughts on me are but why did I?

It seems like everyone has their assumptions on me as the spy as they all held a grim expression towards me.

"Then explain to me why you tried to escape?" Xavier aims the knife to me, throwing it before I could even close my eyes.

I just stared at him, frozen, thinking this was the end. But when nothing happened, I was disappointed almost.

Turning my head to where the knife might be, I saw it stuck on the brick wall beside my head.

"You thought your death would be that simple?" He laughs bitterly.

"I'm not the mole." My lips were trembling as I whispered.

"Elaborate, and maybe I can spare you." Xavier strode over to me, retrieving the knife as he crouches down to my level.

"I-I.." I couldn't find the right words to say. My mind was all over the place by fright.

He traces the knife across my chest, down to my stomach, as I could only gape at him with wide eyes, "You're barking up the wrong tree."

"I'm never wrong." He kept his tone cool, pressing the knife lightly into my stomach.

"P-please." My hands were shaking as I dug my fingers into my thighs to stop it.

This can't be happening again.

He presses the knife harder against my stomach, his eyes never leaving mine, "Take your time to come up with a reasonable excuse."

"Xavier, please." I didn't know what I'm begging for. I just can't tell him.

"Times up." He smirks, creating a quick but rather painfully slash across my stomach.

Xavier puts an arm against my chest, preventing me from moving around as my body jerks up from the pain. "What did you hear?"

"Nothing!" I screamed, trying to squirm out of his hold.

"Don't lie to me piccolo." (little one) Another slash.

"A cut for every lie, Maddie. Now answer."

"You and some other men were talking about the mole for the Russians!" I blurted out, fresh tears flowing down my face.

"Dante, hold her down for me would you?" Xavier stood up, walking back to the table.

"Yes, Boss." Dante did as tell, holding onto my shoulders firmly.

"Dante, you believe me right?" I sniffled, looking at him.

He completely ignored me and didn't reply. He doesn't trust me.

Where was the guy that kissed my forehead earlier and cared about me?

________

The next few hours were hell.

I was mixed with my own blood, sweat, and tears.

For every time I wanted to doze off, Xavier would tell his men to dump a bucket of water on me and I would have to force my eyes to stay open.

After all the men had their turn to afflict pain on me. I was too tired to even speak. Xavier's torment was the worse.

"I have all day, Maddie." Xavier leans on the wall, crossing his bloodied arms.

"Alexei..." I gasped out. He will know I'm here.
