My mouth parted slightly as I gaped at Nicco, studying him to see if he was lying or not.

But with the expression that was masked on his face, it told me he was just simply telling the truth.

"He's in an abandoned warehouse!" One of Xavier's men I recognized as Antonio, shouted as he barged into the living room.

"You!"He roars, this time in English for me to understand. He pointed a finger in my direction, "It's your fault!"

"W-What?"

Before I could even get an answer, his fist collided with the side of my face, knocking me down to the ground.

I cried out, cupping my cheek as I felt the bruises starting to form. But by now, the pain didn't seem to bother me anymore. I was used to it.

You deserve it.

"What are you talking about?"  Xavier's eyes flickered to me for a moment as he held Antonio back, preventing him from coming charging at me.

"Dante was setting up things for their little date," Antonio sneers at me. "He heard someone cry out for help in a warehouse nearby. So like the good guy he is, he came to the rescue until he realized it was a set-up. It was too late."

"She fucking set him up!" Antonio tries to break free from Xavier's grip but Xavier was much stronger.

"Stand down Anthony," Xavier growls, grabbing Antonio by his collar.

"She's the fucking mole! The whore is playing all of you!" Antonio's chest rises up and down, his hands were in fists as he tried to keep his composure.

"One thing you should know Antonio: I make the decisions. Listen the first time. Stand. Down." Xavier slammed Antonio to the wall before letting go of his collar.

I hoisted myself up, gripping onto the sofa next to me until my knuckles turned white. I can't these two men fight over me.

"Everyone leave - except Maddie." Xavier boomed out, causing his men to stomp out of the room.

Antonio walked out, not before glaring at me and muttering something I didn't quite catch.

Too afraid to look up to meet Xavier's eyes, I kept my head down and stared at the marble floor, finding it more captivating than the situation I'm in.

"Maddie. What does he mean?" Xavier asked, his footsteps nearing to where I was situated.

Now daring to at him, I almost let out a gasp. His eyes refused to show any type of emotions as his piercing gray eyes were so calm, like a waveless sea. And that's what scared me the most. He was controlling himself.

"D-Dante told me he was taking me somewhere yesterday. He sounded sure that you would let." I sucked in a sharp breath, like what I've been doing lately when I'm around Xavier.

"He didn't say anything about it." Xavier hissed, pinching the bridge of his nose.

I didn't reply. Did Dante plan on sneaking me out because he knew Xavier wouldn't allow me to go out beforehand? No.

Xavier's eyes were now blaring furiously as he fished out his phone from his pocket, shouting into the poor thing. "Did you find the fucker that shot Dante?"

"We were close Boss. They managed to kill three of our men and got away."

"Find them. I want them alive." Xavier sneered into the phone, ending the call as he turned to face me.
