Xavier was right.

With my elude from last time, I came to realize that trust was the most profound thing whilst being surrounded by the Mafia blood.

Trust was hard to achieve, yet I already broke it when I was given a chance.

All because I was scared and decided to flee.

I was scared of seeing the insouciant people becoming murderous serial killers in an instant. Horrified by the fact they could end up just like him and turn their backs on me.

What was there to lose anymore? I've gone this far. Against all odds, I've survived to this moment without anyone's help. And I was prepared to endure my living nightmares again if it ever comes to that point.

I was alone.

"You ready?" Nicki asked, cutting me off from my trance.

I nodded, staring at the wooden door that was labeled: Infirmary.

"Are you sure he wants to see me?" I questioned worriedly.

"Of course, he said so himself. He's a lot better now."

I nodded once more and inhaled a deep breath in.

"I'll be outside waiting," Nicki winked, "Just don't be too loud."

"Nicki!" I smacked her playfully.

Her laughing can still be heard even with the door shut behind me.

Turning around, there sat on the hospital bed was Dante.

"Dante," I smiled at him.

"Come here," He gave me a boyish grin, opening his arms wide.

I obeyed and walked to him, wrapping my arms around his broad shoulders as he engulfed me in a hug.

"Wow, you've grown," Dante snickered.

"It's only been a few days," I laughed, "How are you?"

"I'm better than ever," He loosened his arms around my waist as I separated our hug.

"That's good to hear," I smiled brightly up at him, "I'm sorry for getting you in harm's way in the first place,"

"I'm sorry for not being able to take you out that night," He said back, placing his hand on my shoulder.

"That wasn't your fault," I frowned.

"And neither it was your Maddie. I know you're blaming yourself for what happened but it was my idea in the first place alright? No one knew it was a trap." He tucked a strand of loose hair behind my ear.

"Okay," I said quietly, still frowning.

"Turn that frown upside down," He put his finger on the corners of my lip, pulling it upward until it looked like I was smiling.

"Now go get ready. It's going to be one hell of a night."

"Earth to Maddie. You there?" Nicki snapped impatiently, still messing around with my hair for about an hour now.

"Yeah," I grinned at her, dismissing my daydreams to the side.
