Game 39 – And You Say I’m the Insatiable

Holding a dinner party was never what I expected, sure, I had my fair share of attending to dinner parties and my grandmother and mother loved throwing but I never had a chance to throw for myself, it seemed irrelevant especially when I was too busy with my work as a surgeon.

Now that I was hosting my very first dinner party, I was nervous. I wanted everything to be perfect especially that this might help Caleb to secure his job as the COO and I wouldn’t want the people I invited to think I am a mediocre when it comes to hosting parties especially when I’m the daughter of Seraphina Price.

Anya helped me since mother didn’t want to. It seemed that mother wanted me to learn by myself. Since I don’t want my party to be an utter disaster I asked Anya to help. Anya is a princess so she’d likely thrown parties more than you changing your underwear.

I was staring at myself through the vanity, contemplating on whether to wear the rubies that I received from mother or the diamond that dad gave me. I liked the rubies, it was exquisite and it’d likely suit my attire for tonight.

I was wearing a white backless dress, low cut off course and the rubies would look lovely hanging. However, the diamond did also compliment the dress. And it was also the fact that it would be seem that these two necklaces were both my mother and father. It seemed that if I choose the rubies, I chose mother and vice versa. I wouldn’t want to be in the middle with the two right now since dad was here.

My parents act civil to one another when necessary but sometimes their conversation would turn into an argument and then it was like a war. A war which nobody could ever stop. Sometimes, I wonder are they still in love with each other and that’s the reason why they never stop bickering?

But that was a foolish thought for dad has Melinda. The perfect wife for him.

My phone rang, I picked it up and answered it. “Yes dad?” I greeted.

“I can’t go to your dinner tonight, Emma.” Dad announced.

“You promised!”

“I’m sorry but Melinda is sick and your brother is at Brown checking the campus.” He explained. “I can’t leave Melinda alone.”

I smiled. Mali nga ako, siguro nga laging nagtatalo ang parents ko, siguro dahil na yun sa past nila pero mahal ni dad si Melinda, he would leave everything just for her. That’s something.

“Okay. But tell me you’ll think about my proposal to you.”

I heard him sigh. “Emma, I won’t buy or even invest in something I know – everyone knows – not profitable. West United had been in deep debt, and let’s say a buyer would come, nothing will help that bank rise again. A bank in near bankruptcy, clients won’t trust their investments to them.” Dad told me.
