Selena POV:
Today was Junior Prom. I was so excited because I have been waiting for this ever since I was little. Its not necessarily how I imagined it but it's close enough.
I have a boyfriend whose gonna take me, I'm gonna have a beautiful dress, and this night's gonna be magical.
"Hey, Sel. You wanna go shopping after school?" Sophia asked coming up to me at my locker. I closed it shut and turned around to face her.
"Yea of course. Who's all going?" I asked.
"You know just me, you, Grace, and Andrew. The regulars." She counted on her fingers. I laughed.
"Of course the regulars." She laughed along.
We made our way to the gym. We had an assembly about what to expect at prom and all that safety shit that I don't care about. We walked in to see that most of the school was already there and in their seats.
I spotted Grace and nudged Sophia, pointing in that direction. We walked up the bleachers to sit next to her.
"Hey Grace." Me and Sophia said at the same time. She turned towards us and giggled.
"Hey guys. Where's Andrew?" Sophia and I looked at each other with questioning eyes.
"I have no idea. Haven't seen him since lunch." She nodded her head in response.
I don't know what that was about but I'm just gonna leave it alone. Minutes later the rest of the gym was full and the principal was at the podium talking.
"Hello students. As you know, I am Principal Robertson and I am here to talk about-"
I tuned him out after that. I didn't really care what he had to say because I already knew what to do and how to act. It felt like someone had their eyes on me.
I looked around the room and everyone was listening to the principal, or looking his direction. I continued looking until I found someone all the way across the room.
Justin.
He was staring at me. He didn't look angry, sad, irritated, or anything. He looked emotionless, if that's a word. Then I felt someone nudge me. I looked to my right to find Grace looking between me and him.
"Why are you staring at him?" She questioned.
"He was staring at me first. Look." We both turned our heads to look at him look at us. Which he was indeed doing. He, of course, knew we were whispering about him but showed no interest in caring.
"Don't you think it's weird how he's watching you?" She asked again. I shrugged my shoulders.
"A little." I responded.
"Do you miss him?" I moved my attention from him to her. She was already staring at me, waiting for my answer.
"Why?" I asked instead. She shrugged her shoulders just like I had moments before.
"Because you guys were close. I know I miss Jeremiah, even though we live together. He's still distant." I looked down at my hands then back at him who was still looking at me.
"Yea I do. But he doesn't. Even if he did, nothing would be the same." I was on the verge of crying but I was still looking into his eyes as he did the same.
This time, he did have an emotion. Guilt. And he should feel guilty. He did this to me and it's his fault I'm not talking to him.
His fault that he has no real friends. And his fault he has the lifestyle he's living. I can't do this. I stood up out my seat and left the room. I couldn't stay in there. It felt like the walls were closing in on me.
