As the colors of the sky descends below the horizon,from it's usual light blue to it's mixed redish-orange and violet-yellow appearance it would leave anyone in awe. The illumination of the sun finally sets as the day comes to it's end. But not for this case. The illuminating sunset doesn't symbolize the end of the day for this kingdom but it's darkest day in history. It symbolizes the day that the once energetic,uplifting, lively and peaceful kingdom of Arathiel and it's fall. A fall that not many would remember. A fall so dyer that it's own prince was afraid to remember.
As the outer back window cascaded the kingdom of Camelot, his raven-black hair whistled in the winds bliss as it blew through it's walls. The moon shined it's light down on the quiet streets of Camelot. His deep ocean blue eyes, deep within his own thoughts. So deep in that he couldn't hear the footsteps of his guardian and physician Gaius,as he walked into the room. It wasn't until the old physician finally spoke that he had noticed his presence that he had finally snapped out of his thoughts..
"Merlin!" Gaius called.
The boy known as Merlin turned his head and nodded. His expression still emotionless as if his face was stoned, as he began to walk towards the old man.
"I know! I should be training regardless of where I am and who I am with. But honestly Gaius,What's the point of training the sun will be up in an hour and everytime I shut my eyes I see them. That same night eight years ago today." Merlin replied his voice breaking with every word he spoke.
Gaius sighed knowing that what the young prince was going through was a burden no prince his age should have to go through. The burden of all burdens." Sire-I mean Merlin" he fixated noticing the glare Merlin was sending him." If you want I can tell Arthur that you went to go visit your mother in Ealdor for the day."
" No!" Merlin shouted. His voice filled with more princely authorities than usual. This made gaius know that today,was not the day to be pissing him off."I can handle King Prat as long as he doesn't piss me off he should be fine." Said Merlin holding onto his seal. The Seal of Arathiel. It was golden from the outer ridges and dark blue from the inner. It showed fierce dragons facing one another breathing the heated element of fire with a sword and the Royal families name centered within the middle. The Aanwen Family.
Gaius smiled. Admiring how much the young prince has grown. "Well since it's okay,I guess you must be going then." Gaius spoke earning a nod from Merlin." Oh and Merlin!?"
"Yea?" Merlin answered.
"Happy birthday!" Gaius exclaimed.
"There's nothing happy about it Gaius."Merlin responded as he walked passed the bearded old man.
As an hour passed the young prince readied himself as he walked across the castle he encountered maids,servants and chiefs roaming the halls. He finally came to a stop at the young kings room.
Merlin's POV
As I entered Arthur's room,I quickly hid my frustration knowing that any expression out of the ordinary would radiate questions. As I opened the curtains the rays of the sun shone through the windows and into the room." It's time to get up, Sire!"I shouted.
Arthur wouldn't budge each time I called. So instead I pulled him off the bed." Alright! I'm up Merlin."Arthur finally spoke as he got himself up off the floor.
I walked over to the table and placed the prat's breakfast onto the wooded table. Leaving it there I walked over towards him to help him dress." Merlin are you alright?" Arthur questioned.
Swallowing all the agonizing annoyance within my tone."Yes sire,I'm fine."I responded smiling as the doors behind m e flies open. We both turned around to face one of the servants who work in the castle.
"Sire, some knights from a kingdom wish's an audience with you."He said.
As shock filled my eyes; Arthur responded." Did they say there name?"
"No! They did not. They just said it was urgent." The young servant replied.
