"Do you see him, Cyrus?" I ask my brother, panting as I stop us behind a corner. Cyrus peeks around the wall and shakes his head. I breathe out in relieve.
"Who was that? Why did we run away?" He asks me and I hold up a finger, needing a moment to catch my breath. We just ran over five minutes. At first I heard him shouting after us and he was definitely running too. But we picked up our speed and after a while we slowed down. Right now we're only a few meters away from the bakery, where my mom is supposed to be in. Should I risk it?
"Don't worry, he's just a friend and we always play hide and seek when we see each other." I didn't want to scare my brother, so I said the first thing that came to my mind.
"Oh, that's fun. Let's do that again." He was about to walk around the corner but I stop him."No we-"
"Oh, look! He found us." Cyrus points at Chandler, who is standing across the mall. When he hears Cyrus' voice, his head snaps towards us and he smirks, before slowly walking towards us. Oh no, we're trapped."Does this mean we lost?" Cyrus asks confused.
"No, not yet. We'll split, so he doesn't know where to go. You run towards the bakery and I'll head downstairs." I say and anxiously shove Cyrus, when I see Chandler has almost reached us. My brother nods and dozes off. I take a deep breath and run towards the staircase. The mall has only one floor and the parking lot. And since the staircase is the closest exit here, I'll hide in the parking lot, which will be easy since it's so big and dark. I practically jump down the stairs and flinch when I hear the door open rather loudly. He's right behind me.
"You'll never get me!" I yell and grab the doorknob of the door that was supposed to get me to the parking lot. My heart drops when it doesn't even budge and I'm stuck. He is getting closer, I can hear it. And he is taking his sweet time too.
"What is it with you?" I hear his confused and slightly angered voice ask me. I close my eyes at his voice. He sounds different than I thought. Who knew a killer would have such a smooth voice. But I shake my head, no way am I thinking about his attractive voice when I'm literally about to die.
He eventually came to stand in front of me and I gulped. If this was going to be my last day, then I'll at least not cry. I want to go down as a brave girl, not a wuss. In this light, he was really attractive. His black hair wasn't long, but longer than your average teenage boy's. He had at least hair at the sides of his head.
He was towering over me and I couldn't bring myself to look up into his eyes, so I kept my gaze on his chest. His black shirt was tight, so I could see the outlines of his muscles. Ugh, of course he looks good too.
"Are you done running?" He asks, crossing his arms over his chest. I gulp and nod my head. I had no other way out anyways.
"Care to tell me why the heck you ran away from me?" His voice was angry and loud, I flinched.I didn't answer and he didn't say anything for a few minutes. All the sounds that we could hear were our fast breathing.
"I'm guessing you don't want your bracelet back, then?" That made me look up at him for the first time. What?"You lost it. I wanted to return it, but you ran away." He shrugs and pulls something out of his pocket. My eyes widen. Is that a game? I turn around and pound on the door, screaming help.
"What the heck?!" He pulls me away and shoves the bracelet into my hand. My eyes widen. Wait what? That is my bracelet. How did he get that?
"I know it's none of my business, but do you have paranoia?" He growls out, taking a step back from me."I-I no. I don't." I say, putting my bracelet on. He doesn't remember me, does he? I can't describe how relieved I feel. I look up at him and he frowns at my hair. What? Is there something in it?
"Your hair is short." He states all of a sudden and I roll my eyes.
"It's shoulder length." I say and he steps closer, making me lift an eyebrow. He narrows his eyes at me, then his eyes wander towards my bracelet and back up to me.
"You're the girl who poured a drink over my head. That's why you're so scared." He says. Crap.I turn around again and pound on the door, yelling for help. He pushes me away from the door and leans his back on it, arms crossed, face expression angry.
"Why the hell did you do that?" He asks me and my breath hitches. This is it. He will kill me and I will never see my family again. I'll never see Mike or Lila or even Danny ever again. Even Archer Collins, even though we only spoke today and he was kind of rude to me. But I knew him now and I have to consider him too and how my death will affect him.
"Cat got your tongue?" He asked and looked at me as if I was dumb. I glared at him and opened my mouth. I will not let him insult me, even if he was my killer.
"Just because you're going to murder me, doesn't mean you can insult me. I may have lost, but my ghost will forever haunt you."He blinked a few times, before frowning. In the meantime I took out my phone and saw that I didn't have any network. I scowled at myself. That was probably the worst decision to make. Hide in a spot where no people were around and you would have no network. Way to go, Allie.
"You think I'd murder you?" He laughed and I frowned.
"I- what?" I stuttered, looking at him with a lost expression. If he didn't want to kill me, what was all of this then? This must've been some sort of sick game for him. There was not such thing as coincidence when it came to us."What's your name, speedy?" He asked after shaking his head.
"Why would I-I tell you my name?" I tried to sound brave, but this whole scenario was just freaking me out. There aren't even security cameras."I'll find out, eh?" He gave me a smirk. What?
"For what? You can just kill me now." I breathed out. His loud and obnoxious laugh pulled me out of my thoughts. What's so funny?"You're funny, speedy. But-" He took a step closer and I immediately stepped backwards.
"-the stunt you pulled last week-" My back hit the wall and I gasped as he stood only a few inches away from me now. His finger lifted my chin and I gulped.
"-was not." His smirk was replaced by a serious expression. His eyes were so dark and captivating, I couldn't look away. He was very attractive, damn.
"And you know what they say, speedy?" He continued as his eyes flickered towards my mouth. I shook my head and he narrowed his eyes.
"Keep your friends close. But-" He clenched his jaw.
"Keep your enemies closer."
