The next day cheered me up a little bit. I didn't tell my friends about mine and Chandler's situation and I wasn't planning to do it. But when we walked outside after school and I saw his car parked in the school's parking lot, my jaw dropped.
I didn't want people to know he was here because of me. And the reason I was so sure he was here because of me, was because Archer has football practice and his car was still parked in his parking lot. He had a fancy one too, but I really liked Chandler's.
I saw a few curious heads turn into his direction and it was good that the windows of his car weren't see through. Otherwise they would bombard him with questions. He was after all some sort of celebrity around here. Despite the stupid rumors, people actually wanted to get to know him. Especially newspapers.
He was Tobias Hawkes' son after all and has never shown himself in front of cameras. Most people don't even know how he looks like now and I remember at Archer's party were no phones allowed. They didn't want to risk anything, I suppose, so we all had to leave our phones at home.
"Who's car is that?" Lila asked me with interest. I just shrugged, because I had no idea what to answer. I didn't want her to know about my current dilemma.
"Damn, that must be one of Archer's friends." Mike says and Danny nods as they walked dangerously close to the car."Guys, what are you doing?" I asked anxiously, which made Lila frown at me. I just shot her a shrug and looked back at Mike, who was now admiring the car by tracing his hand along the hood.
"Calm down. I'm just looking at it." He said and Danny joined him.
"Guys, that's rude. What if there's someone in there." I looked at the window of the driver's side and imagined looking at Chandler's angry face."Since when are you such a wuss, Parker? Look at it, it's beautiful." Danny said and soon everyone jumped as the honk erupted.
"Oh shit." Mike said and took a few steps back. I rolled my eyes."I told you." I couldn't help but smirk. Mike glared at me before shaking his head.
"Let's just leave." He said and we all nodded. My gaze lingered on the car, before I followed my friends to the corner, where we normally all separate."Bye, see you tomorrow." Lila and I hugged and I waved goodbye to Mike and Danny. I waited for them to leave my sight, before I let out a breath and turned to walk towards Chandler's car. The door was unlocked and I got in. I didn't dare look at his face, so I kept my eyes on the dashboard.
"Seatbelt." He commented and I frowned, but put my seatbelt on. I didn't have to wear it yesterday. He drove out of his spot in the parking lot and onto the main street. It was silent for a while, before I decided to break that.
"You didn't have to pick me up at school." I said, still not looking at him.
"You want me to wait in front of your house, where your mom could see you get into my car?" He asked and I rolled my eyes. He was right. I didn't answer, just let the silence surround us again. When he stopped at a red light, I felt his eyes on me and my breath hitched.
"I want you to cook dinner tonight. I don't care what your mother says." His voice was demanding, but not angry. I still felt his eyes on me and nodded. I could figure that out."Good." I heard him say in a low tone as he started driving again. We reached his mansion in no time and he let me massage his back this time. There was no TV, since he was laying in his bed. We didn't talk at all today and I wanted to know how his day was.
I wanted to know if he was still upset with me. But I shouldn't, because I'm just his slave. I cringed at those thoughts. I hated that word. He could've called me his masseur for all I know. This is all he needed me to do and cook of course. Which reminds me, I still have to do that, before I get home.
"Chandler?" I asked in a soft voice, because I didn't know if he was sleeping or not. He answered with a muffled sound and I figured he was awake.
"I'll cook the dinner now. Because I have to get home soon." He opened his eyes at that."But, it's not even-" He lifted his arm up to look at his watch.
"-five yet. You don't have to get home at five, do you?" He asked me and I sighed.
"But I still have homework and the drive is also almost an hour." I argued and he groaned."Fine." He growled and I flinched slightly at his sudden anger. What is it with him? He could just buy one of those massaging seats, what does he need me for? I bet he could also afford a chef, so why all this?
I stood up from his bed, even though it was really comfortable. I bet he slept like a baby at night. I know I would. We walked downstairs and he sat down on the kitchen island. I was anxious, because I don't cook. All I can do is scrambled eggs, but that's not a suitable dinner.
"What will you cook for me? We have noodles and bread and rice. All sorts of stuff." Chandler said and I shrugged.
"I-I-" I stopped talking, knowing he doesn't like it when I stutter and right now I was so scared, I knew all I would do was stutter."What is it?" He asked with a sigh and I just shook my head, before turning around and opening one cupboard. I'll find something. I saw a package of mac and cheese and saw that it had instructions on the back of the box, so I pulled it out.
"Seriously? Mac and cheese?" I heard him ask and his voice was closer than I expected. And when I turned around, he was right there. Only an inch behind me as he eyed the package in my hand. I took a step back, thankful that this kitchen was so big.
"What's wrong with it?" I asked, looking at the package as well.
"It's boring. I could do that myself." He shrugs and I roll my eyes."Why don't you do it then." I thought out loud and widened my eyes before covering my mouth. Did I really just say that out loud. When I looked at Chandler, he had an amused smirk on his face.
"So much sass for a slave." His words made me glare at him and I turned around to look for a pan or anything I could cook that in. I heard him settle down again when I finally found the pot.
"Mac and cheese it is then." He said and I just rolled my eyes and started reading the instructions. Oh good lord.
