"What?" I asked him and turned around to look at Chandler. To my surprise his hair was not messy at all anymore and he looked as if he freshened up. I didn't even hear him come down.
"Did I stutter?" He asked as he walked pass me."Make me dinner and then I'll drive you home." He demanded as we stepped into the kitchen. My mouth fell agape, but not from the big and amazing looking kitchen, but from his words.
"Chandler, I can't stay any longer. My mom is worried and I told her I'd be home in a bit. Making you dinner and waiting for you to eat it plus the drive home takes longer than an hour." I scoff and watch him sit down on a bar stool by the kitchen island."Speedy, if I wanted to hear a story, I would've asked. Get going or we'll be here all night and then I would be too tired to drive you." He smirked and I glared at him. He was impossibly rude compared to Saturday.
"My name is not speedy and I don't think you understand. I need to get home. When your mom asks you to get home, do you just say no? No, you run to get home, Chandler!" I yell frustrated. I haven't even thought about what I said in that moment. I was angry and scared, because mom would be worried if I took more than an hour to get home.
It was silent for a bit, we both looked at each other and I was breathing hard to get rid of my anger. Chandler on the other hand only clenched and unclenched his jaw. It was then that I realized what I was saying. My eyes widened and I opened my mouth to apologize, but I just couldn't find my voice.
He stood up from his seat abruptly and turned to walk out of the kitchen. I quickly followed him and when I saw that he was heading outside, I was relieved.
"Get going before I change my mind!" He yelled, not turning around. I ran to catch up to him and opened the passenger door."Address." He demanded and I told him. The car ride was awkward, even worse then the drive to his house. I knew I had to apologize, even though I was supposed to be his slave, but I was afraid he would snap at me. I knew he didn't have a mother, or at least she wasn't around much, so why did I say that?
"Don't look at me like that." His angry voice broke the silence. I didn't even realize I was looking at him and so I blushed and turned my head to the other side. I was surprised at how fast he was driving and I felt my stomach turn.
"Could you slow down?" I asked with panic hinted in my voice as I found the courage to look at him. He just glanced at me, before scoffing and picking up even more speed. I felt sick and he didn't care at all. This made me want to reconsider apologizing to him.
"You can let me out right there at the corner." I said, afraid my mom would see his car and ask questions. He ignored me and stopped right in front of my house. No lights were on, so I breathed out in relief. He wasn't looking at me, but I know he was waiting for me to leave.
"Chandler-"
"Get out." His grip on the steering wheel tightened and I should be scared, but I wasn't. I know he was hurt and it was my fault. I haven't planned on interacting with him while being his personal slave, but I felt like I had to do this."I know you don't- I mean, I've heard the rumors about your mother. I'm sorry I brought her up." I said and watched the vene on his neck pulsate.
"You don't know anything! All of you don't know shit about me or my family!" He snapped and turned to me, his face red with anger."I-I know, I'm sorry. B-but it's still-"
"For fuck's sake, stop stuttering!" He hit his steering wheel and I flinched. My heartbeat was so fast, you'd think I ran a marathon. I didn't dare open my mouth again, afraid I'd start stuttering again."Get out Allie!" He yelled again after a few minutes of just staring at me. I gulped and nodded my head, before leaving the car with a shaking body. He drove off as soon as I closed the door. I breathed out and started walking towards my front door. I saw that the lights in the kitchen got turned on while I was sitting in Chandler's car.
I gulped when I got in the house and saw my mother lean her hip against the frame of the kitchen door. She didn't look happy as her arms were crossed over her chest.
"Hi." I said quietly."I thought you were walking. Who was that in that fancy car?" She cut right to the chase. To be honest I wasn't even afraid of her. Chandler's outburst in the car just scarred me.
"He saw me walking on the street and offered me a ride. I know him from school." I shrugged."I didn't catch his name." She said sternly and I sighed. I couldn't say Chandler.
"Archer." My mom knew him and she knew he was pretty wealthy, so she would believe me with that."The Collins boy? Since when are you guys friends?" She asked with interest. I simply shrugged and waited for her to dismiss me. I wasn't even hungry anymore and just wanted to curl up into a ball.
"Well, the food is on the stove. I could heat it up for you." Mom said and I just smiled kindly.
"I'm not really hungry, mom. I forgot to tell you Lila had snacks and we kind of stuffed our faces in them." I added a chuckle and she sighed."I'm just happy you're home. I know you're seventeen and almost an adult, but you're still my little baby. If something ever happened to you, I-"
"Don't worry mom, I'm alright. I know you just want me to be safe." I hugged her and she sighed again.I'm really looking forward to the day Chandler Hawkes is out of my life.
