"Look Ava, I have a plan. Just listen, okay?"

I nod my head in agreement because I'm not going to waste my time arguing. If he has a plan then I could be wrong; I do have options.

"Now do you have a phone?" His eyes dance around with a fiery determination that scares me.

"If I had one do you seriously think I'd be here right now?" Shit, why did that sound so rude.

He looks a little taken aback by my rude reply but he quickly replaces it with an eye roll and smirk. "Ohhhkayyy... no phone then." I don't mean to be rude but I can't help it. One minute I'm pissed and the next I'm happy. Ugh.

I want to tell him the reason; because my dumbass left it at home, but I stay silent. I'll never get over that and it'll be a constant internal battle.

Wait, I may not have a phone but he might. "Where's yours?"

"My dad says I should get a job so I can buy one." He lays his head on the cool surface then sighs loudly. I laugh internally because his dad sounds like my parents. Everything I had I worked for because they wanted me to learn the value of hardwork.

After a few seconds of silence, he looks around then signals for the waitress.

"What are you doing?" Now isn't the time for his games.

"Ordering coffee, want some?" He responds nonchalantly while I just roll my eyes.

"I'm just kidding. We'll use the Diner's phone."

Good idea! I frown because I haven't thought of that yet.

"Something wrong?" Bianca bounces over to us and stares at me and my unfinished food with a curious expression.

"Where's your phone?" He raises his eyebrows at her and she quickly turns to him and starts smiling like some love struck waitress.

"In my pocket..." She looks hesitant before reaching inside her pocket.

"No...not YOUR phone. The Diner's." He rubs his hand swiftly over his face as she twirls her hair like some school girl and giggles before saying,

"Oh it's by the bathrooms. Just make a right down that hallway and you'll see it on the wall. It's not hard to miss." She points to the hall, winks at Jared then turns on her heel when another table calls her name.

We get to the phone and that's when I realize I left the number Mandy gave me in the bag. And guess where the bag is? In the dreaded hole.

I'm brought back to reality at the sound of Jared's velvety voice.

"Do you remember a friend or relative's number. Ya know, someone you can call?" He's holding the phone in his hand with a hopeful expression.
