November 28

It's been two weeks since we received the awful news from the detectives and my sleeping patterns have gotten worse. I still have nightmares and night sweats but I'm able to muffle my screams with my hand so I don't wake anyone up. It's funny how Ian isn't here but I'm still able to see him. Last week my mom suggested I see a therapist but I refused because talking about it won't make it go away and I don't need everyone's pity.

Today is Black Friday and we're going cell phone shopping despite my being against it. Our home phone's been disconnected because of the constant calling and hanging up from Ian so now my parents are forcing me to get a new phone. I tried calling Davis to report it but Miranda answered. I told her about him calling and she said there wasn't much they could do because they couldn't trace it. I don't even think she tried. I roll my eyes while putting on my gray hoodie and stepping out of the dressing room.

"How about this?" Mom asks while holding up another blouse for me to try on.

"Can we go now? I've got my phone and it's too crowded here." I plead while frantically looking around. After leaving Verizon my mom decided to go to the mall and do some early Christmas shopping.

"We need to catch sales sweetie. Plus, we're bonding. It's mommy daughter day, remember?" She wraps her arm around my shoulder while we walk to the lingerie area.

"No it's not mom, you just want me to shop with you."

"Well, Dana's working and your father took Jared shooting so what better person to shop with." She smiles at me.

"Ugh." I bang my head against the metal bar on the clothing rack in annoyance. I don't understand why she couldn't just leave me at home...Oh wait, safety that's why.

"This would be a good Christmas present for your father." She winks at me while I roll my eyes.

I notice Dana waving me over to the cash register so I decide to go ask her.

"Hey, can you take me home?"

"Yeah. Hold on." She grabs her keys but before she can walk out her co-worker shouts, "It's not your break yet!"

She shrugs before giving him the finger and walking out with me.

While she's driving I have the urge to look at the wedding ring so I pull it out of my pocket to study it. As I twirl it I can't help but think about the case again. Now that it's closed everyone has gone back to their normal lives but not me. I'll never have a normal life or be normal ever again. Especially when I have to worry about my parents. Now that Ian is free I'm not protected and I need a plan. I need a fullproof plan because I know he's coming for me.

Like Dana said, every great chess player knows their opponent's moves before they make them and I'm going to have to be that great chess player.

You know my moves but I have no idea what yours are."So what's your next move Ian Hunt?" I whisper to myself.

As I further study the exquisite diamond ring, I see words engraved inside. 'Forever and Always Mine'.

"Forever and always mine?" I repeat those words until an idea comes to me.
