Chapter 35. Un-edited
Guess who's back. Me! Yay!! Lol. Anyway, I feel so bad for having you guys wait but I also feel so good because I've had time to pre write chapters so that means that I'm updating two chapters. Yep folks, two magnificent chapters for your enjoyment. Thanks for being patient and I hope you enjoy. Also any questions that you have please just ask me. :)
P.S. I feel like I'm spoiling you guys with these double updates... but you've been so patient that you deserve it so I can't get mad. :D
Love,
Naya <3
I stare at the blurred trees and scenery that we pass as Jared accelerates. I have no idea where we're going but I do know that I trust Jared. He and Dana are pretty much the only people I trust right now and that's saying a lot because I used to be the type of girl to trust everyone. Foolish and naive I was but not anymore.
It's nothing but the quiet hum of the engine before Jared clears his throat to speak, "So uh, I took my dad's truck without permission. You're welcome." He smirks at me then stares ahead and I take the opportunity to take in his features. His lips are curved into a playful smile and his blue eyes compliment his dark, curly hair. His jaw is clenched like he's focused on something and I smile because he looks so adorable when he's thinking. I notice his biceps showing through his shirt as he continues to drive and I get so lost in his model-like appearance that when he speaks I have to read his lips because I can't hear a single word he's saying.
"Did you hear me Ava?" He glances at me while tightly gripping the wheel.
"I'm sorry, what?" I quickly avert my eyes to stare at the road, hoping he didn't notice me checking him out.
"I said stealing my dad's car to get you was honestly worth it...And you look nice too." I catch a glimpse of him staring admirably at me before quickly drawing his attention back to the road.
"Thanks." I mumble as my cheeks begin to heat up while I stare at my lap. So he did notice me drooling over him; I'm so lame I could face-palm myself right now. I can feel the awkwardness between us and it's driving me insane.
Wait, he said I look nice; is he blind? Why can't he be honest? I don't look nice; I look like the complete opposite and if I hadn't already accepted the compliment I'd tell him to take it back. I guess he's just being nice.
Dana makes gagging noises from the backseat before asking,
"Um, where are we going?"
"We can't go into town so I'm taking the back roads." That explains why I see so many trees and why we haven't reached town yet. It becomes clear to me what he's doing and I smile to myself because he's smart. I think by now we all realize if we get caught then it's over for all three of us. And that's when my mind begins to wonder how he knew where to find us, so before I can stop myself I blurt it out. "How did you know where we were?" I ask while staring at the road ahead. If he's really one of them sent as a decoy and he's lying then I'll kill him myself.
"Well, part of it was listening to my dad on the phone and another part was a lucky guess. I mean when my dad was on the phone with Ian he mentioned something about Zeke already being on the south route so I took the car and started looking for you." He turns to me with concern in his model-like features.
Okay, so he's not lying. But how does his dad know Zeke?
"Your dad knows Zeke?" I question again, not caring if he gets annoyed. He better get used to it because I have more lined up for him.
