Hazel's POV
Ugh. I officially hate homework.
That thought hung in my mind as I wrote the potions essay. I had been writing for about half an hour and my hand was hurting. The worst part was that I wasn't even halfway though yet. Seriously, I didn't want to spend my Saturday doing homework.I looked at my work and realised I had write the last few sentences in Latin. Whoops. I quickly scribbled them out and re-wrote them.
We had all decided to do homework, so we were in the library, either researching in books or writing. The scratchy sound of quills on parchment and pages being turned filled the library, along with people at the far end of the library, the occasional muttering of annoyance with homework and the librarian shushing people who talked too loudly.
I looked at Frank, who was next to me. I felt a twinge of sadness, because recently we had hardly had any time together, with homework and all. I missed having time alone with him. I turned back to my essay and continue to write.
Finally, I finished writing. I smiled, happy that I now had time to relax. Quietly, I begun to pack up my stuff and put it into my bag.
"Hey, Hazel. You leaving?" I hear Frank ask me.
"Nope, just packing up," I reply, as I put the essay away.
"OK. Do you want to... You know... Spend some time together. We've not really done that much recently," he asks me, sweetly. I smile brightly.
"Of course. How long till you're going to have finished?" I ask him curiously.
"Oh, um... I'm nearly done. I just need to write a few more sentences," he whispers.
"OK," I say as I put the last things in my bag; my quill and ink. He quickly picks up his quill, dips it in his ink and starts to write hurriedly.
Five minutes later, after telling the others that we were leaving to spend some time together, we leave the library, hand in hand.
I look up at Frank, happily. He was so much taller than me, but I didn't mind, even if I did have to stand on my tiptoes to reach him. Really we should have been in different years, but Chiron had got them to make an a exception for us, which I was very grateful for.
"So, what should we do?" Frank asks me, snapping me out of my chain of thoughts.
"I'm kinda hungry, can we go to the kitchen?" I ask him.
"Of course," he replies, so we change direction in order to get to the kitchen.
We sit in the kitchen, waiting for the elves to bring our snacks. I had asked for a hot chocolate and a cinnamon swirl.
"So, Nico said that Will's coming, with some other demigods," I tell him, smiling a bit.
"Oh, good. I feel sorry for him, he looks so lonely. It's good he'll have will to keep him company," Frank says. "Who else is coming?" He adds.
"Uh... The Stolls, Katie and Miranda, Grover, Juniper and Clovis. I think..." I answer, trying to remember.
"Ah... OK. I'm betting Connor and Travis are going to cause havoc with Peeves," Frank guesses. I laugh, imagining all of the pranks.
"Almost definitely," I agree. The house elves bring over our food, and I thank them, with a smile. I take a sip of my hot chocolate and smile. It was delicious. It was chocolatey and milky with a hint of cinnamon in it and had marshmallows floating in it.
After having our snack, Frank and I wandered the halls aimlessly, holding hands, talking and laughing. We talked about random things, that weren't important. It was nice to just be able to talk, without a care in the world, and as a demigod, this hardly ever happens, even if there are no monsters around, you're still in the same mindset, but here, it felt, well, safe. Not that Camp Jupiter and Camp Half-Blood didn't, but there, we still had training, war games and the like, but here, it was more relaxed. Still, Camp Jupiter and New Rome were still home, but it was nice to have a break.
"Is there anywhere you'd like to go?" Frank asks me, curiously.
"Not particularly," I reply, smiling. It was late afternoon now, and we were outside in the chilly castle grounds. The sun had started to set, lowering itself towards the horizon.
"How about we go up the astronomy tower?" He suggest. I nod in reply.
"Sounds good," I say smiling. We make our way back inside and walk though the corridors in the direction of the tower.
When we get there, the sun has nearly set. It was a lovely view. Stars were starting to show in the sky, and the sun fast a shimmering light across the lake. I looked at Frank and smiled.
"It's beautiful up here," I say, happily.
"It is," he agrees. We sit down and watch the sun set, forgetting about reality. Soon, the sky was dark, lit only by the light of the stars and the light reflected off the moon. I sigh contentedly. I notice Frank staring at me, causing me to blush.
"What is it?" I ask him. He smiles at me.
"You're just so beautiful," he tells me, causing me to blush even more.
"Oh... Umm... I...Uh... Thanks... Erm... Well..." I say, stuttering. I had no sides what I was trying to say in the first place. Frank chuckles.
"I love you, Hazel," he tells me. I smile brightly.
"I love you too," I reply. Get pulls me into a kiss, taking me by surprised. A few moments later, we break apart, leaving me feeling flustered. He smiles down at me, and I return a smile.
"We schools probably get back, it's getting late," Frank tells me.
"Oh, Styx. I totally forgot," I say, realising that we completely lost track of time. "What time is it?" I ask. He looks at his watch.
"It's ten thirty. We still have half an hour to get back," he replies. I let out a sigh of relief. With that, we stand up and run back to the common room, hand in hand.
