^Elena's party outfit^
Two days have passed since me and Adam had that little talk. I have made it my mission to ignore him, not that he was trying to speak to me anyways but I didn't even want to look at him.
I'm so happy that today is our last day of school for thanksgiving break. Most of my family was coming into town to stay with us so I was going to have a packed house.
"Elena!" My mom yells breaking me away from my thoughts, I quickly set down my hair brush and run down the stairs to see my mom, Nina and Liz all sitting in the living room.
"What's going on?" I look curiously at them as I slowly make my way down the last couple of steps.
"Come sit!" My mom said while patting the chair next to her.
I look at her and then turn to Nina and mouth to her 'what's going on?' She raises her eyebrows and shrugs.
I sit down in the seat wait for my mom to speak. She takes a long sigh and I notice every time she gets us all together she tells us something we don't want to hear. "Well you know how grandma, grandpa, your uncle mason, Aunty Regina and your cousins stay with us over the break?" She says in a shy tone, and I know she is going to say something I don't want to hear.
We all nod our head including Liz because she usually stays here over breaks (her mom is Aunty Regina). "Well..." She hesitates. "They aren't coming this year." She closes her eyes waiting for us to yell.
Even though it may seem like a lot of people it is usually fun, and Nina and I always look forward to the holiday because we see our family. For my mom to tell me that none of them are coming almost breaks my heart, that means it is just going to be empty.
Me and Nina look at each other and turn back to my mom. "Why?" We say at the same time.
"Well your mom." She points to Liz. "Is going to your fathers side of the family." She huffs and rolls her eyes I can see she is disappointed. "Your uncle Mason has the flew, so that means your cousins can't come. And for grandma and grandpa they just don't want to come this year." She laughs.
I guess I get it. My aunt always comes over here, it would only be fair for her to go to her husbands family for once. Plus I don't need to get sick because I have to finish a lot of packets to finish over break.
"I guess I understand." I shrug getting up. I'm still a little mad but everything happens for a reason and we probably just need to spend the holiday alone.
Nina follows behind me into the kitchen as I grab a pre-made chocolate chip, strawberry jam cookie sandwich.
"So your not upset about them not coming." Nina leans against the counter glaring at me.
"I mean not really, it's there decision." I shrug taking a bite of my cookie. She doesn't move her glare from me and it wasn't one of those 'I'm mad at you' glares. It was more of a 'What are you up to' kind of glare.
After a while of her just scanning my face I finally spoke. "What?"
"What happened between you and Nathan." I knew this was coming sooner than later, just by the she reacted yesterday at dinner.
"Nothing, it just didn't work out." I lie not wanting her to fight with anyone right now because once she gets started it takes a while for her to calm down.
She send me a curious look with her eyes squinted. "Don't lie to me."
I gently laugh it off. "I'm not." Is all I said before grabbing my bag. "I got to get to school before I'm late." I said pulling my jacket on and walking out of the house.
