**Valerie's POV**
I open the door to my dorm to find Jaheara standing half naked admiring herself in the mirror. She's got the song Safe and Sound blaring so she doesn't hear me when I swing the door open. I just stand there leaning against the door frame with a smug grin on my face. I can't help but chuckle and shake my head as I watch her swing her hips back and forth, walking to the closet, pulling out a dress, and holding it up to her body to check herself out in the mirror. I assume she spots me out of her peripherals because she calls out over the music.
"Enjoying the show?"
I walk into the room, kicking the door shut behind me. Making my way over to the radio to turn it down, I slap her ass and whisper in her ear, "How could I not with a bod like that?"
Looking into the mirror to see her eyes go wide once again at the fact that there is only her reflection, I grin in satisfaction.
"How is it that you live your life every day without being able to see your reflection?" Jaheara asks in a bewildered tone.
"Because I'm not a complete narcissist. Besides, why would I need a mirror when I have you to tell me that I look ugly every day?"
"I do not tell you that EVERY day," Jaheara says with a pout. She continues to admire herself in the mirror while I sit back on the bed watching her. She looks back at me and gives me a "wtf" look.
"Why are you watching me?"
"Because you have a smoking hot bod. Who wouldn't watch that?" I reply with a shrug.
Jaheara turns back the the mirror muttering, "I question her sexuality sometimes."
In a blink, I am behind her yet again whispering in her ear, "As do I."
She whirls around and goes to push me back but I'm already across the room, grabbing a blood bag out of our mini fridge. "Quit doing that!" she shouts and grabs a pillow to chuck at me. I dodge it with ease whilst cackling maniacally.
I hop on the bed again and rest against the headboard, pondering if I should tell Jaheara about Terry while gulping down my snack. Having gotten dressed in a navy blue dress that compliments her flaming red hair flawlessly, Jaheara walks over and sits on the edge of my bed looking at me with a knowing smile.
"What's that look for?" I ask, genuinely curious.
"I know there is something on your mind so you might as well just spit it out."
"Okay lets see here; I kicked some punks' asses today, got lectured by the Prez that I need to behave since one of the Overseers is coming here soon to snoop, I kissed Terry to see if I felt anything and found out that he lusts for me unintentionally, and then found out there is supposed to be a kick-ass party at the Red Moon dorm tonight. Does that sum it up for you?"
I conveniently left out the part where the President told me that I have to protect Jaheara. If I told her that she would just laugh in my face and think the President has finally lost it.
"You kissed Terry?" She looks at me incredulously. I simply nod. "Well?" She prompts expectantly.
"Well what?"
"Well how was it?"
"I didn't feel anything at all," I say and get up to throw away the empty blood bag.
I glance back at her and catch a quick glimpse at a sad expression before it's wiped away and replaced with a look of excitement. Hopping up from the bed, she walks towards me and says, "Put all of that aside for now and let me help you get ready for this party."
"Something tells me you already knew about it." I narrow my eyes at her.
"Well I have a friend who knows a friend...." She says while walking back over to the closet.
"Bullshit, we don't have any friends." Since I am the weird girl who is way too down to earth for social interaction and because Jaheara chooses to associate with me, she and I have become the Academy's outcasts. It's sad that such a prestigious academy has the atmosphere of a public human high school.
Jaheara rolls her eyes and asks if I know what I am going to wear. "I have no idea what I want to wear. Thats one of the perks of this academy. We have uniforms so that I don't have to think about what the hell I'm going to wear every morning. And that is also why our relationship works out so well. You have to deal with me but in return I've become your personal toy doll that you get to dress up however you desire."
"Why does that sound way more sexual than it needs to be?"
I shrug and wink at her. I hold my hands out to her as if I've been handcuffed. "Dress me master."
"What the fuck is wrong with you?" Jaheara asks in an exasperated tone as she throws one of the four total dresses we own at me to put on.
"I wonder that myself sometimes."
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
At eight, Jaheara and I arrive at the Red Moon dorm. See, the reason its called the Red Moon dorm is because its the vampire section of the academy. Sandabury is divided into sections by supernatural species. There are three head houses and six smaller houses.
Red Moon represents the vampires, Blue Moon the werewolves, and Yellow Moon the Fae. Of course there are colors in between each of those that represent the subcategories. Under the Fae section, there are illusionists and magic users. Under the werewolf section there, are shapeshifters and a group of creatures that are able to manipulate/communicate with nature that are called the naturalists. As for the vampires, there are dream eaters and telepaths. Of course there are always the creatures that can't really be classified as any of those that are put in the Black Moon dorm, aka the miscellaneous dorm. That's where Jaheara and I live. I honestly have no idea why I am also in the Black Moon dorm but it makes sense for Jaheara to be. Every time I tried to bring it up with the President he would oddly avoid the question.
"Earth to Val, come in Val."
I blink for a second and get zapped back into reality. I look at Jaheara to see her and a highly muscular man dressed in a suit with a pair of V15's on (which leads me to assume he's the bouncer) looking at me expectantly.
"What's the hold up, J?" I ask.
"You need an invitation in order to get passed the door's barrier," suit guy says in a deep voice, directed towards me.
Jaheara goes to continue walking up the steps to the front door but suit guy shoots his arm out to stop her.
"Oh, and vampires only."
"Now he decides to mention that," Jaheara mumbles under her breath. Just as I'm about to lay into this guy, someone steps out the front door.
"Relax, Maximilian, these ladies are with me," Terry says to suit guy, putting a hand on his shoulder. Suit guy steps back and nods his approval. Terry holds out both of his arms and Jaheara and I each take an arm as he escorts us up the steps.
