"Okay first of all, I'm nobody's nothing!" I yell at the men in front of me. They respond with questioning looks.
"That made more sense in my head but whatever. We have bigger fish to fry." I turn and point towards Terry. "You go get our remaining supplies. I'm assuming they're around here somewhere." Terry simply nods and takes off out of the village square. Then I turn towards Logan. "You, come with me. The rest of you," I turn my attention towards the gathered crowd, "can go back to doing whatever the hell it is you guys do."
The crowd shuffles about for a bit, whispering nonsense before eventually dispersing. At this point, Logan has moved to stand right next to me. Like, literally inches away and way too close for comfort. I move to push him back with my right arm and am greeted by a weird electrical shock when my hand touches his bare chest. In my startled state and since I'm still not used to my new body, I end up pushing Logan back several feet. He grunts and his features are once again overcome with shock.
"You should not be able to cause me physical harm."
"Yea well, that's what happens when you stand too close to me."
Up until this point, Raquel has been silently watching everything transpire.
"Did you feel something when you touched Logan?" Raquel asks with a smug look on her face.
The narrowing of my eyes answers her question, to which she replies with a grin.
"Well at least that works normally."
Logan walks back over to us, but is careful to not come inside my personal space this time.
"Are there other problems with her, Raquel?"
Oooooh he's on a first name basis with her. That's not fishy at all.
"There's nothing wrong with her," Terry's voice calls out from across the square, supply bags in hand. It's obvious that comment was directed towards Logan because Terry gives him a fierce scowl when he walks by to hand the bags over to me.
I rifle through them and pull out two blood bags, however the one was half empty due to a leak. I hand the good one to Terry and toss the other back in the bag. In the process I notice the two papers with weird writing on them are intact albeit bloodstained. Logan makes a disgusted face before turning away and I roll my eyes.
"Raquel and Logan, I'll meet up with you at the hut in a few minutes."
Raquel huffs before walking away and Logan reluctantly follows with a look of disdain.
"Finally some sense of normality," I sigh while Terry and I head back inside the tent. I sit on a cot facing Terry, whom I notice is still just holding the blood bag.
"I know it's probably gonna be gross by now but it's the best we've got. We can go hunt animals when we get the hell outta this place, ok?"
Terry nods before tearing into the bag hungrily. He drains it in seconds and immediately his vibrantly glowing eyes return to their normal, bright white. Tossing the empty bag in a nearby bin, he walks over and plops down on the cot next to me.
"You weren't serious when you said you're nobody's nothing, right?"
"Seriously, that's what you're worried about right now?" I feel anger welling up inside me, more so than it should.
Terry subtly scoots away from me.
"Sorry, Val. Just calm down."I sigh, realizing I'm gonna have to have a tighter rein on my emotions for a while.
