To the Rescue

Terry and I look at each other with smirks before we go charging out into the small clearing full of demons, weapons drawn and ready. Naturally, I reach the group of eight or so demons a few seconds before Terry does. Racing straight up to a giant, pale looking demon with ragged teeth and gnarly horns, it takes a hesitant step back when I come to a stop right in front of it. It's easily twelve foot tall frame looms over me, but that means I most definitely have one advantage over it: my speed. Before the demon gets a chance to fully recover, I side step it, using both daggers to slash deep into it's left leg. The fat beast drops the newly injured leg and takes a knee, face scrunched up in pain. With it's back slightly arched forward, I race up until I reach it's ugly head. With all of my might, I launch both daggers downwards into the back of the demon's neck and drag them across. Having severed it's spinal column, the demon starts to fall face first towards the ground before it crashes down, causing a small tremor. Proud of my first demon kill, I look over at Terry to see him batting away two imps.

"Hey what do you say we start nicknaming some of these demons?" I call out to him right when this eight foot tall winged creature with a beaked face and feathered body comes charging at me. It's sharp claws narrowly miss me as I duck below it's swipe.

"Sure, but I recognize some of these. That one's a Vrock. Just killed me some Imps. I don't know about that big pale one though!" I hear Terry call out somewhere to my left.

"Alright I'm naming that one Muffin-Top. They're pretty easy to kill!" I narrowly side-step another swipe at my face.

I can't risk looking over at Terry considering the Vrock is right on top of me again. It lunges out with it's right arm but I twirl around it to the left until my front is facing it's extended arm, expecting it's move. With my daggers up close to me, I bring them down. The creature squawks at me loudly in pain as it's right arm falls to the ground with a thump. Having backed up several paces, the Vrock spreads it's wings and squats down to get ready to thrust itself into the sky. Given that the feather ridden creature is now a little ways away from me, I knew I wouldn't make it over to it fast enough to prevent it from taking off, so I instead flip my dagger around in my right hand and take aim. However, the Vrock suddenly cries out in more pain as a quarterstaff wraps around it's neck from behind. Knowing Terry will finish the kill, I turn around, ready to face off against the remaining four demons.

**Darius' POV**

Having spent the last few hours or so on the run from demons and trying to escort students and staff to safety, I'm pushing my limits since I haven't fed in two days. Shaking off the negative thoughts, I continue to duck and dodge my way through debris and the remains of several classroom buildings in my search for the President or Jacques. Crouching down, I peer around the remains of the building where I would teach my students self defense. I can only hope the campus won't be shut down after this incident as the memories of training sessions with my students come flooding back to me, leaving a small smile on my face. In the distance I can make out the President's mansion completely intact, which I find rather odd. Every building has seen some sort of damage but that one. I scan to make sure the coast is clear before making my way towards it.

Several minutes go by before I find myself standing in front of the large, Victorian style building. I thank my lucky stars for having been able to get over here unscathed and with no demons in sight. Nevertheless, their loud calls and roars can still be heard randomly in the distance as I make my way up the steps of the mansion. But before I can get too far, I smack into an invisible barrier surrounding the building. No wonder no one has heard from the President- I bet he and some students are all barricaded inside. It still would have been smarter to leave the students inside while he went to find more or maybe try to figure out what in the hell is going on. Then again, he could have done just that. Either way, I'm at a loss for where to go to next until I here a voice from behind me.
