Demon King

The President's laughter fades into the background and time sort of slows as I fully take in the appearance of the Demon King. Stepping through the portal, one massive black hoof at a time, his easily 14 foot tall frame quickly becomes the center of attention as the rumbling sound emanating from the portal dies down. Captivated by the fiercely glowing magic trails coursing through the veins inside of a ripped body, it takes me a moment to realize that the President is speaking to him in a language I have never heard before. The Demon King's sharp below of laughter has me shudder at the sheer power emanating from his voice alone.

"Foolish mortal. Your attempt at the Abyssal language is pitiful."

The still floating President lowers himself so that he is eye level with the powerful, red skinned demon.

"I'll admit, my Abyssal may be rusty. However, you may not think me foolish when I utter your true name."

The Demon King lets out another booming laugh before addressing the President again.

"You bore me with your idle threats. Tell me where my daughter is and I shall grant you all a merciful death," he replies with a toothy grin. Only his teeth are about as thick around as my wrist.

"All in good time. Your daughter is safe, for now. I wish to make a deal with you."

"Are you freaking kidding me right now?! Everyone knows you don't make a deal with the Devil!" I blurt out, causing the already tense atmosphere to shift towards me.

The Demon King quietly sizes me up as the President's harsh tone is directed at me.

"Valerie, I suggest you stay out of this before more people get killed."

Terry, who has been standing as still as a statue next to me this whole time finally moves to grab my arm in warning, but I brush him off.

"You think one mortal with some magic, a meekly vampire, and a hybrid will be enough to stop me?" The Demon King states, turning to face the President once more.

Luckily for me, I manage to maintain my composure but the President's confidant facade slips just the slightest bit, and I know full well the demon saw it too.

"Fine, you called my bluff on your true name. But can the same be said about your daughter?" The evil grin returns to the President's face once again as he raises his arm into the air and snaps his fingers.

Directly in front of him, floating horizontally in mid-air, is Jaheara's unconscious body. He must have teleported her from wherever he had her stowed away- probably the mansion. The Demon King's look of mild shock quickly transforms into one of outrage.

"WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO HER?!?"

Terry and I have to cover our sensitive ears at the painful volume of the demon's voice. However the President's grin remains intact.

"I had her powers sealed while she was here at the academy. Until a certain someone had her taken away and my seal started to break. It was during those moments where her power surged, I suspect, you were able to detect her presence on this plane. Still, I got something just as good out of it," he finishes with a glance in my direction.

Throughout the President's rant, several Lycans began to position themselves in a circle around the perimeter of the hill surrounding us. The Demon King, no longer able to contain his rage, lashes out with a roar straight towards the President's floating figure. Terry, the Lycans, and I can only watch as these two powerful beings launch at each other.

"Logan! Where are you going?" I call after Logan as he starts to take off in the direction of the portal.
