**Logan's POV**
Leaving Valerie to track down her fire elemental friend was a lot harder than I thought it would be, most likely because I've managed to stay relatively close to her for the past day. Being so close made me feel at ease but I sense her getting farther away thanks to the longing sensation. I can only wonder if she is also starting to feel the effects of the mate bond like I have been. However annoying it gets, at least I can use it to keep tabs on her, even if its from a distance.
The light drizzle that had been going on for the past hour turns into a more heavy rainfall, causing me to focus more on running than my thoughts. Following the fire elemental's scent, I manage to make it to the small human town at the base of the mountain before my fur coat becomes completely soaked. I run into the back alley of the same cafe I followed Valerie and her friends to from before without being spotted by a human, luckily. The sidewalks are surprisingly busy for it being such a rainy day. I shift back into human form and duck into the cafe through the back door. To the left is the employee locker room where I snag some spare clothes out of an open locker.
The cargo shorts are slightly snug in the waist and the red hoodie makes me stand out too much but it's better than nothing. Walking out into the alley again, I pull the hood down over my face and stroll to the sidewalk, attempting to look as inconspicuous as possible. Subtly sniffing the air, I make my way down the sidewalk as I follow the fire elemental's scent. A few minutes go by of this before her scent disappears around a corner. I come to the end of the sidewalk and turn to my right to find an old telephone booth. As I approach, my senses tingle from the cloaking magic surrounding it, informing me that this is no ordinary telephone booth, but one that can be used by supernatural beings as it appears invisible to humans. The fire elemental's scent is quickly dissipating thanks to the rain, but I can still detect that she was here as clear as day. I take some more sniffs, trying to determine where the Doppelgangers took her, when the phone suddenly starts ringing.
Hesitantly, I pick up on the third ring.
"Hello?" I say into the staticky receiver.
A few seconds pass of just the static sound so I repeat myself.
"Hello? Is anyone there?"
"...is Darius from Sandabury Academy...are you?" the voice on the other line said.
"You're breaking up. My name is Logan Dreyer. I'm a student at Sandabury. What's happening?"
"...under attack...need help with...danger...."
"The academy is under attack?!" Valerie's safety immediately pops into my head.
"...portal...flying demons...."
"Got it, I'm on my way and I'll send for help. Just hang in there!" I exclaim into the receiver before hanging up. I immediately call a buddy of mine's cell phone from my pack that travels with Raquel and quickly inform him of the news. Seconds later I'm back in wolf form and running straight towards the Sandabury Academy portal knowing that I just called for the best backup the academy could hope for- a pack of lycans. I just hope that Valerie will eventually forgive me for returning without the fire elemental.

**Darius' POV**
"Damn it, damn it, DAMN IT!!" I yell at the now dead phone line. "I was trying to warn him to stay away, not come back here!"
Mrs. Greenswald and a handful of other staff members along with some students all have their scared gazes upon me as they stay crouched down in the rubble of the classroom. Ever since last night, a portal suddenly showed up in the middle of the campus courtyard out of nowhere, spewing ash and flying demons every few minutes. The staff has struggled to gather up all the students throughout the night so that they could be evacuated. Several students are missing and even a few were found dead on our way over to this building.
