Chapter Seven

The worst kind of missing... (Part 1)

Chennai, India

From the day she is born, every parent knows in their heart that their little beloved daughter would indeed leave them one day;

At her parents' home, she's pampered and cherished like a princess but at her husband's home, she becomes a queen and should rule and guide, but in return she learns that there's much to sacrifice.

And seeing Humaira these last days of her stay with them, Abdullah and Kadhija could not help the tears that blocked their throat, their words choking and eyes expressing what they couldn't say...

Dearest one,

The time has finally arrived when hearts are embellished and hurt

This hour of helplessness was waiting you for a long time

Now you will be leaving your sisters and brothers

Leaving your parents, your home, your family and your city

We have accepted this and have imagined the heartbreak

It bores a hole in the heart and breaks it to pieces

This is Allaah's Command, the practice of the world

A girl will leave for her husband's home, leaving this temporary one

That is your real home, so proceed there

From this day on, your living and dying shall be there

This is not the time to weep, take it from us

Hear well what we say and make no mistake

You are going now to your real home

Do what is honourable and the respect will be immense

Fulfill the rights of one and all

Serve your husband through every pitfall

You understand well the status of your husband

Should he be displeased, Jahannam shall be your end.

Be steadfast on the Shari'ah, O my beloved

And be aware of the rights of all

The life of a happy couple is itself Jannah

So always bear in mind the prophetic life -the Sunnah

And for Allaah's sake, don't ever break the ties of kinship,

Honour the guests, be they rich or poor

And spend much in Allaah's Path

For Sadaqah never decreases the wealth, but  does the opposite!
