And then he told his sister he'd see her later, and when he walked out the door, he wondered why he said that.
His sister was only a year younger than him, they went to the same school. It was her who had to break the news to the school. Her dad couldn't bare any more phone calls.
After their mother died a year earlier, she thought her brother and her were finally getting better, even having a closer bond than they'd ever had before.
She thought he was better, she thought he was happy, she didn't think he'd ever do something like this.
But she was wrong, apparently.
And after that night he was gone, he'd left them and would never be coming back.
And then she wished she'd known why, why he did it, what drove him to it. But she'd never know.
