"Here, kitty kitty." A tall handsome blond-haired vampire calls at the dark alley. I immediately recognise his voice: Lysander.
"As if." I mutter under my breath, cursing at myself for the thousandth time for accepting this job offer.
I'm a vampire hunter, but when Immortals are involved everything starts getting a tad more difficult, even with the elven strength and agility by my side. They are the oldest vampires and the strongest.
"Come out and play!" He calls again with an upset tone, like a spoilt child.
My job is to bring in both Lysander and Lucius, two of the five Immortals, they have been running around the city playing with young women and draining them from their blood. By the looks of it, someone is displeased enough to want them gone.
I breathe out as silently as possible as I concentrate on listening to his movements, using my heightened senses to detect the perfect moment to attack.
"Three, two, one-" I jump out from my hiding place and kick him in the face, taking him by surprise.
Lysander stumbles back, cupping his hands over his face and grumbling.
"I like it when bitches put up a fight." He laughs histerically and starts running at full vampire speed towards me.
I jump upwards, reaching for a balcony and take out my guns, studying his perplexed face from above. I can tell he is confused now, that he's trying to understand how I can possibly be doing what I'm doing since I don't smell nor look like a vampire. I use these moments to my advantage and let myself fall while shooting in his direction.
I float to the ground, landing perfectly on my feet and keep on shooting silver bullets at the angry vampire approaching me. His face, so beautiful when calm, becomes a mask of pure horror.
"Fall, you bastard." I mutter, not daring to stop firing.
And he does fall, but he's not dead, Immortals are far more difficult to kill than with simple silver bullets. Those are only useful to intoxicate them and put them out for a while, you actually have to decapitate them with a ritualistic knife in order to kill them, which I unfortunately don't have.
I grab him from the arms and start dragging him towards my van.
"Xander?" Lucius' voice calls him. I hear the loud music of the club getting weaker as the door closes behind him.
"Fuck." I hide him behind a group of trash cans and plant a silver dagger in the knocked out vampire's heart, just to keep him out while I take care of the other pain in the ass.
"Lysander where the fuck are you?" He bellows getting angrier.
I get out of my hiding place.
"Hello sweety." He comes closer to me and our eyes lock. I try to use my power but it's useless on him. "You sure are a rare kind of beauty."
I'm usually able to drug people with my beauty, intoxicate them and make them do whatever I want, but this doesn't fully apply to vampires unfortunately.
As he steps in the light I notice he's much taller than me and has longish blond hair. "I'm looking for a friend of mine, he's a blond-haired bloke. Did you happen to see him?" He smells of blood and it makes me want to puke, especially since I can smell it ten times stronger than the average person.
I shrug, tucking a strand of my long blonde hair behind an ear and smiling flirtatiously.
He smirks at my gestures and comes closer, sniffing the air as I silently pray he doesn't smell Lysander behind the trash cans.
"Jeez, babe, you smell beautiful... What is it?" His fangs come out as he strokes my neck and brushes away my blonde curtain.
"Eau de mort." I whisper and take my dagger out, sticking it precisely in his heart.
He looks at me wide eyed, with a surprised look on his face before falling on his back with a loud thud.
"Right." I clap my hands together, humming a tune I heard earlier on the radio and dragging Lucius by the feet towards Lysander's body.
Once I get to Lysander's location and pull him up, I realise his back is completely covered in mush and he stinks so bad he makes me instantly miss the terrible smell of blood.
"You're lucky I don't have the knife yet, I would rather kill you that let you spread dirt all over my van." I muttered throwing his body on top of Lucius and dragging them both towards the van.
As I'm loading Lysander, somebody jerks me backwards and sends me flying into a hard wall. The crash takes my breath away and makes me fall on my face. I try to pull up as quickly as I can, but I only end up receiving a kick in the face that sends me flying against the wall once again. I taste the metallic flavour of blood in my mouth and it is not pleasant, at all.
This time I don't think twice, I jump upwards and land on the ceiling of the building against which I crashed (twice), watching my opponent from above, trying to understand who's attacking me and why.
My breathing fastens when I see his face, it's Alexandros, leader of the Immortals, and he's standing below me, studying my features as I do the same with his. He's the most beautiful vampire I've ever seen, not that that's easy since they are all fucking beautiful, but he has something in his features that makes him look like royalty, unlike the other two Immortals. His long dark hair falls on his back and his piecing blue eyes shine of a mysterious light.
I suddenly jump down, planning on landing on him and sending him to the ground, but he moves with his vampire speed and avoids contact, causing me to crash on the hard ground instead. I fight against the urge of moaning in pain.
He lunges forward and tries to punch me in the face, but I grab his fist in my hands and twist it, hearing the cracking of bones. His face is still impassible, it's as if nothing can faze him, nothing can hurt him.
I reach for a silver dagger with my left hand, but he slaps my arm with his other hand sending it flying far away.
I know he's quick and I need to anticipate his every move, so I stumble backwards as he tries to grab me again.
"What are you?" He asks in his low velvety voice, so full of power, so full of history, sending shivers running down my spine.
"I am a Hunter." I answer, knowing he's far too powerful for me to take right now, after fighting against the other two, and especially so far away from home. "You are of no interest to me, but those two-" I point at the two unconscious bodies. "On the other hand are. I can't have vampires killing young women around my city, or, as a matter of fact, any city."
"You cannot have them." He simply states. "You will leave them alone or I will be forced to kill you."
"I will have them and you won't be able to kill me." I take my mobile out and press the green button. "Now, them or me? You have a choice to make and you'd better make it fast."
The van explodes and I jump on the roof again, I watch Alexandros run towards his fellow Immortals. Fire does not kill them, however they might end up having some pretty scars to remember me by. And that's exactly what they deserve.
