Present Day:
"My name is Charli Mayer, I'm female and I am 30 years old. Currently I am living in 221c with my neighbours being the famous Sherlock Holmes and Dr John Watson. My story as to how I got here is a long one but one that I hope will serve as a message of what happens if you don't trust your inner gut feelings. Here we go:
December 3rd 2014:
"It had been a mediocre day in Central London all day. Now it was a miserable and cold December evening. I'd decided to meet up with some of my old university friends - Lydia, Michelle, Daniel, Sadie and Georgia - at a nearby coffee shop.
I walked into the warm shop and none of them had arrived yet so ordered my drink and sat by the window watching the people on the street run to take cover from the heavy rain that had descended from above.
I waited for little over 10 minutes before they all arrived laughing and giggling. Once they had ordered and were seated we began chatting about whatever had happened since we had last seen each other.
As we were laughing at some of Daniels old stories of us we all heard the old rickety chairs creak under us and began to laugh at that. For some reason or another we stopped reminiscing and the chat turned to relationships. For whatever reason, my whole life I have been scared of commitment and always found the topic slightly unsettling for myself. So when I found out I was the only one not in a relationship and my turn to say what's been happening in my own love life occurred I grabbed my coat and bag and then quickly left, ignoring the pleas from them for me to stay. To this day I still don't know why I did it.
It was now pitch black outside and the crowds had subsided. I began my walk home. I took out my keys but my cold, shaking hands dropped them before I could reach the door that led to the flats of 221b and 221c. I went to pick them up but I couldn't find them.
I turned around sharply when I heard a clear Irish accent ask "Are these yours?". In the moment I didn't know what to do and began to panic. Trying to keep calm I simply replied "Yes they are, may I have them back please?"
He didn't give them back but inspected the keys. "Ah 221c - you must know Sherlock Holmes from the flat above you! I knew him a long time ago... anyway I must be going but see you soon miss..."
"Charli, Charli Mayer" I replied shaking his outstretched hand.
"Nice to meet you, I'm James" he said giving the keys back to me before waving goodbye and leaving.
I unlocked the door where the landlady Mrs Hudson greeted me. I began to walk to my flat before she called out after me "The boys want to speak to you!" and of course by 'the boys' she meant Sherlock.
I walked up to 221b and flopped onto the sofa that was by the door. "Hi boys" I called out to which I received no reply - rude.
John then walked out of the kitchen with a cup of tea and a piece of paper in hand. "Hi Charli - Sherlock's busy with his deduction thing but he wanted me to give you this. Do you recognise this man?" he asked pulling me into the corridor outside the living room. The paper had the picture of James's face on it.
"Yeah I do, I just ran into him on the street outside the house - his name is James I think - why do you ask?"
"Um well, this man is called Jim Moriarty and is highly dangerous - connected to the case Sherlock's thinking about and well.. I want you to be safe you're like my little sister and I don't ever want to see harm come to you. Also as much as he doesn't want to admit it, I think Sherlock really wants you to be safe! I can see how close you've got recently" He replied, it was true that me and John were like siblings and Sherlock and me had really gotten close recently - bonding (well fighting) over where we like to sit.
"Just be careful Charli please!" he said as I spun on my heel and walked back to my flat.
I yelled back "I will Johnny - tell Sherlock I said 'hi'".
When I reached my flat, the door was unlocked and I knew that I had locked it but thought maybe Sherlock had paid a visit or something to have a look thorough my things. When I opened the door and turned the lights on I saw Mrs Hudson sitting on my sofa with tears rolling down her cheeks and when I moved in further I saw Jim Moriarty standing there with a grin on his face and one of his guards pointing a gun at her.
"Just in time Charli, we really have to stop meeting like this!" He said.
