I looked across the dance floor, my gaze locked on the one person I had hoped to never see again. Sherlock (predictable but ya know). Jim must have spotted him too as we gracefully waltzed across the dance floor to take our seats before the gala started - my eyes never leaving him.
The gala passed mostly smoothly, our food arrived and it was very nice. However, after the meal, I excused myself to go to the bathroom, as I was leaving I heard some gun shots go off from the ballroom, I ran out to see Sherlock up on stage talking about some case he was on and screamed that no one would be allowed to leave. Of course that would not happen. But the one thing that struck me most was the state of Sherlock's eyes: loneliness, despair and obvious signs of excessive drug use. I did feel guilt but I didn't feel guilt for leaving him. He started going mad up on the stage, thrashing his hands about and threatening people with whatever he could find. Before I knew it Jim had stood up and was about to shoot Sherlock in the leg but got pushed to the ground my John. I crouched down and grabbed my gun out of the holster Jim had given me (did I forget to mention this?). As quick as I could, I shot Sherlock in the leg and watching him fall to the ground as John ran over to him - Jim stood up and dusted his suit off. "I didn't want to hurt you Sherlock," I said, "But this is for your own good - you need help and I'm not coming back to you, get over this." I said before looping my arm through Jim's and walking out of the gala.
The car arrived back at the mansion and we walked in. I switched on the TV and saw the time was 11:30ish. I watched it for a while until I felt a small dip in the sofa next to me, I looked over and saw Jim had changed into loose sweatpants and he looked so good. I got distracted by the TV when the countdown began to New Years. Just before the final bit of the countdown Jim looked at me and whispered "May I kiss you?" to which I happily nodded and added a small "Yes,". He slowly leaned in and kissed me slowly but passionately. It was one of the best kisses I had ever had in my life.
It heated up quite quickly and we ended the year in each others arms.
