1st January 2015

The following morning I woke up to a, once again, empty bed. I jumped out of bed before noticing my clothes all over the floor of the bedroom. I grabbed a robe hanging up on the back of the bedroom door and walked downstairs. I walked into the kitchen and found a note on the table, I picked it up and read it out loud. It said:

Dear kitten, Happy New Year to you, I will be back in a few hours. I would like to ask you something when I get back, there is a dress for you in the wardrobe - would you mind trying it on for me later? I guess you're probably wondering where I am and what I'm doing but don't worry I'm just in town, shopping.  ~JM <3

I looked at the letter again before laying in on the table not thinking much of it. I then made myself some toast and put butter on it. I then sat down in front of the TV and tried to find something interesting to watch. I settled down to watch a box set and when I next looked up it was 1:55pm. Jim was going to come back at 2 and I hadn't even showered!

I quickly ran upstairs and grabbed a towel and ran into the bathroom. I had my shower and I walked out of the bathroom. I put my underwear on and was reaching for the dress when I felt someone grab my waist and say "Well kitten this is one of the best welcome home presents I've ever had!". He leaned in and kissed me on the cheek. He then passed me the dress that he had bought me. I slid it on over my head and pulled it over my underwear. The dress was beautiful it was long and it flowed in the skirt. He zipped up the back of the dress for me and then let my long hair fall over the zip.

Jim then grabbed my hand and led me to the roof of our house. I had lived here for a little while and I didn't even know we could go up there. He held open the door and I walked out onto the roof. I gasped it was so beautiful. The moonlight was shining down on a little table and their were candles on the table and a few on the floor surrounding the table. In the center was a small bouquet of roses. He took my hand and led me to the table. I sat down opposite him and we had food brought to our table.

After we had our meal the waiter took away the plates and Jim stood up and offered me his hand. I took it and he led me to the corner of the roof where there was some more candles and roses scattered around on the floor. The cities moonlight skyline was next to me and everything was so beautiful it couldn't get any better. I looked out to the skyline and when I looked back at Jim he was looking me in the eye before saying, "Charli, I thought we finally deserve a date that didn't involve a gun or a gala. I wanted to ask you if you would be my girlfriend?"

"Of course, I.. I love you so much!" I said, giving him a kiss.

After this, he took my hand and we laid down on the roof next to each other, hand in hand, in silence but comfortable. Looking up at the stars and pointing out constellations to each other. I felt a smile creep up onto my face. I am happy for the first time in a long time - even better yet, I'm not just happy, I'm in love for the first time and it feels amazing.
