Chapter 14 - Final Preparations (UPDATED)

6th July (Jim's POV):

I can't believe I let it slip. I had a perfect plan. Tomorrow we would drive to her parent's house and the final birthday present to be opened would be her engagement ring - her parents were in on it and everything. I can't do it now, it would spoil the surprise. I think I got out of it well though. 

I have to let them know now - but what if it's more surprising to do it tomorrow instead of leaving it to do in the 'future' - however long that is. I can't tell if she would say yes though and am I ready to ask her? There is just so much to think about. 

(Charli's POV)

I honestly did not think that he would ever be serious about that. We haven't known each other that long in comparison to other couples like John and Sherlock, but it is pleasing to know that he thinks about me like that. 

(Short time skip that same day):

The rest of the day was quite awkward. Neither of us really knew what to say to each other. The only thing he really let up was that I should pack a bag for tomorrow before he got off of the sofa, kissed me passionately and went into his office where he stayed for the most part of today. Something is off and I just don't know what to say or do to make things go back to the way they were 10 hours prior. 

7th July (Charli's POV):

I got out of bed and went downstairs to make my breakfast of waffles. I love waffles almost as much as I love my Jim and the best thing about being with him is the fact that he bought me a waffle maker when we first met! 

Just as I was thinking this the man himself came down the stairs, "What are you thinking about Charli?" He asked me. I snapped out of my trance long enough to listen to him. 

"Just wondering where we are going today, I know that it's somewhere I will like 'cause you picked it but I really wanna know!!" I pleaded with him. He smirked and brushed past me and went into the living room. I followed putting on my best puppy dog eyes and gave him a lingering kiss. I was determined to find out where we were going. "Stay here" he whispered in my ear and left again. 

I had just finished my plate of waffles and put the dish on the counter-top in the kitchen when he came back. He grabbed my wrists and I felt a soft material brush on them. "I thought I said to stay in the living room," he said with his lips brushing my ear. He then spinned me round and pinned me to the counter, waving a blindfold in my face. "I'll lead you to the car, you stay there while I grab your bags. I want this to be a surprise." 

True to his word he sat me in the car, grabbed our bags and then tied the blindfold around my eyes. We then set off to the mystery destination." 

(Jim's POV):

We finally arrived at her parents house, I opened the door for her and led her up to the front door before letting her take the blindfold off. 

The smile on her face made me so happy, she hugged me tightly and gave me a kiss before her parents opened the door and she ran to embrace them. As I walked through the door they patted me on my back before we congregated in the living room. 

We had a delicious meal with them and even had chocolate brownies for dessert. Then it came time for the presents. 

We were all sitting on chairs around the living room with Charli sitting on the floor opening her presents. She had opened all of them a part from the final one from me which was in a small box next to her. My heart started beating quicker and quicker as she picked it up.
