Even the Strong Cry

Chapter Two

Levi was shocked to feel his cheeks damp as she shook Eren's limp body desperately, hoping with all his heart that the boy would wake up and laugh, smile his usual goofy smile and then Levi would tell him the truth.  But none of that happened.
"You freaking brat!" Levi yelled to no one in particular. "How could you do this to me? GET UP!" Levi was crying more than he had ever cried in his life. The tears were rivers pouring down his face and falling onto the chest of the young boy lying on the ground beside him.
"Hang in there Eren, I promise I'll get you help as soon as I can." Levi struggled the pick up Eren but after two paces realised he couldn't do it. Eren was twice the height of Levi and possibly twice the weight. There was no chance Levi could carry him all the way back without help. He brought out his phone to see if he could call Hanji for help- but he was outside the walls, obviously he had no signal.
"I'm sorry for being so useless Eren..." Levi muttered as he curled up on the ground beside Eren, his head buried into the young boy's shirt, breathing in the rich smell of Eren's aftershave.
How long Levi spent there listening to Eren's ragged breathing Levi didn't know, but eventually he must have fallen asleep because the next thing he knew he was awoken by movement beside him. Immediately he jumped to his feet and Eren  stepped back nervously.
"I'm sorry Levi, I just woke up and don't feel so good...I was gonna go for a walk but I didn't want to wake you, you looked so peaceful when you were sleeping..."
"You brat! I was so worried about you!" Levi snapped angrily.
"Huh?" Eren was shocked. His head was throbbing and he felt dizzy and sick. He didn't understand why Levi seemed so annoyed but he didn't really want to think about it. Thinking about anything made my head hurt.
"Levi...could you excuse me? I don't feel so good..." Eren started to walk off but Levi followed after him. Soon Eren stopped and violently threw up. Levi stood beside him and gently patted his back until it seemed to be over. When Eren turned around again there were tears running down his face, but when he saw Levi looking he quickly wiped them away.
"Eren, don't be embarassed. Even the strong cry sometimes." Levi said gently as he stroked Eren's hand gently.
"I just threw up Levi! I was crying. I'm not strong, I'm weak. And if the strong cry then when did you last cry? Never is my guess!" Eren pulled away from Levi angrily, although he couldn't undertake why. Shouldn't he be pleased that Levi was looking out for him? No. Levi was treating him like an injured puppy that needed help and Eren didn't like that.
"Even I cry Eren." Levi whispered.
"When?" Eren demanded.
"A few hours ago, when I thought I had lost you..." Levi whispered even quieter and Eren was stunned to silence.
"Anyway...are you feeling okay? The fact that you threw up is good, you probably have concussion but the fact that you threw up says that you are still alive; and I plan on keeping it like that. Okay?" Eren nodded dumbly and Levi smiled one of his small but extremely rare smiles.  He stepped forward and took hold of Eren's hand again, and stood up on his tiptoes. He only meant to look into Eren's eyes; but they both found themselves leaning in closer- until they're lips were touching. The kiss was short, sweet and gentle and when they broke away both Eren and Levi were smiling.
"Let's go home. I think it would be safer to walk, in case you faint while you're in the air, so it will take longer- but I don't think you would mind a few more days alone with me, would you Eren?" Levi joked, and Eren just smiled: he didn't expect Levi to say anything deep, he didn't expect anything. The kiss was just a kiss and that was it. Nothing could ever happen between them. That's what Eren's brain said; but in his heart there was hope that he really could find love before it was too late.
Yes, it's a cliffhanger but please don't hate and just continue to read!! (If you're reading this before part three comes out I'm sorry for the cliffhanger but just wait and see...its worth the wait!!)
