Levi's heart was pounding but he knew he had to keep going. He was in a treadmill, with wires connecting him to a range of various devices that Hanji had set up in his training room. He had only been running for twenty minutes, and he knew he could do so much better but his body was screaming at him to stop.
"Levi, you can stop anything you want. You look ready to drop," Hanji said quite rely. Levi shook his head.
"I can keep going. This isn't anywhere near what I can do..." he gasped for air and Hanji turned the machine off.
"You're not helping Levi. I'm running these tests to check your mental and physical fitness, you're meant to keep running until you get tired, not until you are so exhausted that you can hardly move!" she handed him a towel.
"I'm going to get a shower Hanji. Go get some lunch or something and we'll meet back here in an hour. Okay?" Hanji nodded and they walked off.
The feeling of the warm water was bliss for Levi, the jets gently massaging his scalp and seeming to wash away all his anxieties. He sang a tune gently...A thousand years....wait, what? Why did that song come into his head? He hasn't even listened to it in ages. He strained his brain to try and remember why the song seemed significant. He must have heard it somewhere before. Then suddenly he remembered.
(Flashback)
"Cadet Jaegar. Give me your phone."
"But Heichou..." Eren handed the phone over unwillingly and refused to look directly at his eyes.
"Are you going to look at everything?" Eren blushed sheepishly. "It's just that I'be got some pretty personal conversations on there..."
"Jaegar. I'm not doing this to invade your personal life because frankly so don't care. I'm doing this because it's the commander's orders to check all the new cadets' phones to make sure that there isn't anything on there that could lead to you being in league with the Titans. It's just standard procedure." and with that Levi took the phone and walked off.
Later that night when Levi was searching the phone he had come across a file that had no name apart from a blushing emoji. He looked in it and immediately regretted it. It contained two things, the first one was a picture that Levi didn't even want to open. The second was a video. It was not what Levi expected. Inside was a video of Eren when he was little, watching his mum. Levi didn't know who had taken the video but it was heart wrenching. The look in the young boy's eyes as he watches his mum die and the song in the background was If I die young...Then the scene cut and there were a few clips of Eren as he grew up, during training and then finally the day he joined the Survey Corps. Levi blushed madly when he realised that he was the main feature in the video.
When Eren was in the courtroom and he stepped foreword to save him, the song changed slowly to a slower beat. The day we met frozen I held my breath...Levi blushed and closed his eyes, just listening to the music. After that he had ended the video and put the phone down. He didn't need to see anything else...
(Back to normal time)
The memory brought tears to Levi's eyes and he turned the shower off and stepped out. He quickly got changed into the clothes that he had left out and wandered downstairs to the kitchen where he made himself a cup of tea. He checked the clock. He still had half an hour until Hanji was due back so he sat down at the piano and let the music overwhelm him, leaving all his problems behind and letting the smooth rhythm take over. It was just him and the music, nothing else mattered and nothing else existed. Hanji could wait...It used to say coffee but I changed it to tea. Happy now fandom members *cough* my bff *cough*
