When they finally reached the walls again there was something different about the captain...Eren could sense it. They hadn't kissed again; but occasionally Eren would look over his shoulder and see Levi staring at him with a strange look on his face...something that Eren couldn't quite describe but it made his heart beat faster. He knew it was wrong but he felt himself falling for the mysterious captain, even though they barely knew each other. It was almost a pity when they arrived back at HQ because Levi acted like it had never happened, and Eren hated having to pretend he didn't feel anything. He hoped that something would change but unfortunately nothing did; for a few days at least...
(A week later)
"Jaegar? Get in here! You haven't cleaned these floors properly!" Levi yelled.
"Yes Heichou!" Eren called back and hurried into the dormitory that Levi had called him from. Funnily he didn't remember ever having been asked to clean the floors in there...but he cleaned so many floors it was easy to forget to do a room or two every now and again.
"Where do you want me to clean, Captain? Will I go and get my cleaning supplies?" Eren asked enthusiastically. He hated cleaning but he wanted to impress Levi, and Levi loved cleaning so therefore Eren did the cleaning. A lot of cleaning.
"The room is fine Eren. I cleaned it earlier. It was you I wanted to talk to." The captain's words took Eren by surprise. What did he want now?
"Y-yes sir?" The young boy stammered. Levi gave him a look that wasn't a smile, but wasn't quite his normal glare either.
"I wanted to ask you something. What do you think about me?"
"What?" Eren gasped. "I-I don't know...I mean, you're my hero and I admire you..."
"I didn't mean like that brat." Levi snapped. "I meant that if I asked you to marry me, what would you say?"
"H-Heichou! I don't know...are you proposing to me?" Eren was beginning to blush madly; was it a test or was Levi genuinely trying to tell Eren something?
"Of course I'm not proposing to you! That's ridiculous!" Levi's tone shattered any of Eren's hopes that they might ever have a relationship, but what he said next surprised the young boy even more.
"What I really wanted to say was that I know what happened in the forest was an accident. I thought you were going to die and I let my emotions take control of my rational thinking. I won't let it happen again and I suggest you forgot it ever happened."
"Heichou!" Eren gasped. "I could never forget something like that!" He immediately regretted opening his mouth and the glare that Levi gave him confirmed his thought that he would have been better off staying quiet.
"I'm going to act as if it never happened. If you want to hold on to it then you do that, but it would be best for both of us if you forgot." Levi stormed out of the room, leaving Eren standing on his own with his mouth hanging open.
"Yes sir..." he said numbly. "Anything for my Heichou..."
