Chapter 100: DANI

I was sound asleep, warm. Suddenly the door slams open. I jolt up from bed and Jane stands at the door way "Emma!" I started to feel my blood pressure drop, my heart beating against me, palms sweaty "What?! Is it Dani! My baby?" she waves her hands side to side "What? No. You're baby's fine. Listen Emma, we just delivered a premie. We had no more room for the boy. Were discharging you're Danielle. She's free to go right now." I gasp, clenching my chest and laughing "Really?! ... wait, it won't affect her, she can breathe on her own already?" she smiles "Actually, we could've discharged her a couple of days ago but now she no longer needs it... You're babies waiting with her nurse." She closes the door and I immediately start slip on my shoes and dig through my bag for my phone.

I quickly dial my dad "Dad! Daddy! They're discharging Dani right now!" he laughs "Oh what! Okay baby, listen. Um you're mom, Wilbert and I are at dinner 1 hour from the city. Call Zayn please or Natalie, she has my car." I blow him a kiss and hang up. I quickly dial Zayn and he picks up "Zayn! Babe! They're discharging Danielle right Now! Come get us!" he yells "Oh my God baby! Okay, ugh god damn it! My car broke down at work. It's almost ten and triple A takes it's time responding. Just uh, can you tell your dad, I'll go home running okay." He hangs up and I dial Natalie "Nat! come quickly and pick me up! They're discharging dani!" she mumbles "oh my god Emma! Yay! Okay, let me get a thick blanket and her car seat. I'll be there in like five minutes."

I grab my stuff and run down the halls, looking for my babies nurse. Then I spot her sitting in her desk, holding Danielle in her arms. I shriek "Is that my Danielle?" she looks up at me, smiling "Congratulations Ms. Johnson, you finally get to take her home." She stands up and slowly puts her in my arms.

I cry, holding my tiny Danielle in my arms, knowing she can finally be with me safely, at home.

I wait for Natalie in the lobby, looking out and back to my Danielle. Then I see my dad's car speeding through the drive way and stopping in front of us. I roll my eyes and wait for her to come inside with her car seat and blanket.

She rushes inside and sighs "I came here as fast as I could. I think I broke like a hundred laws just coming." I roll my eyes, softly placing my baby inside the seat "Nat, she's not dying. But thank you, I really just want to go home."

We secure her seat and I sigh "can we go to the market and buy some ice cream first." She chuckles "Oh Kay."

We stay quiet for a while, looking at the dark road ahead. Then her phone buzzes. I secretly look over and see a text message from Zayn "Nat, we shouldn't do it anymore. I know we keep saying it's over but it's not right."

I frown "What is Zayn talking about?" she quickly glances at the phone, sighing loud. She gulps "Emma, do you love Zayn?" I frown, sneering "Yes..." she stresses "Do you really love Zayn?" I sneer, staring at her "Yes Nat! What the hell is going on?" she raises her voice a little "Does Zayn love you?" I scoff "Natalie! What the hell is going on!" she yells at me, looking at me "Emma! Do you Love..." I see from the corner of my eye a bright light. I scream "Natalie! Watch out!" Suddenly my side gets hit and we spin in circles. I hear glass breaking, tires swirling, my baby's cries. I shut my eyes close and when we come to a complete stop I yell "Ah!"

Natalie panics "Em's you okay?" I shriek "I can't feel my leg... Nat, take dani!" She cries, reaching for me "Em's let me..." I push her away, shrieking "Nat! No! were in the middle of the highway in the dark! Get my baby Out! JUST GO NAT!" she breathes heavily and opens her door wide, then the back door. I hear her climbing, unclipping her belt. I sob, trying to unbuckle the belt but my door was bent towards me. I look back and watch her struggle, taking the baby out. I scream, cry and shriek "Natalie! Natalie please! Pleassee take My BABY OUT!" she yells "the keys, they have a compact kit with a knife." I quickly reach for it and watch her leave the car.

I was alone, in the dark. Hearing the beating sound of my heart, the faints of my breath. The foggy night with the full moon, the crickets chirping. Then I'm free from my belt and I reach to the back, trying to grab her blanket. Suddenly I hear "EMMA!" I quickly turn front and see a big bright light.

Then. Sudden darkness.
