"So, what made you decide to enroll to DB?" Hope asked, holding Kelley's hand on the table. Kelley was too busy 'talking' to Leo. He's been writing details of his condition down on a napkin. Easier for him to do it that way.

"The location, it's not too far from where we live. Usually do online courses but we decided why not try a physical school for a change." Ash said, sipping her pepsi between the sentences. Hope gave her a strange look.

"Where exactly do you live?" She asked. I started drinking my ice water. I wasn't sure what to keep secret and what not to. "And who else lives with you?"

"Me, Leo, his brother, two other girls and Tobin. We all live in a penthouse together." she said simply. Kelley was paying attention to this part, opening her mouth causing the straw to fall out.

"You live in a penthouse now?" she asked me wide eyed. I was forced to answer now. "What about your mom?"

"She left." I said, looking up while scowling. I could feel my eyes burning. Not because I was going to cry, because I haven't been blinking.

I stared down at the table, seeing the red and blue flecks in the white background of it. All I wanted to do was focus on that and nothing else.

"Tobs, I'm sorry... I didn't know." Kelley said quietly. After three minutes, I finally blinked.

"It's okay. I have a new type of family now." I said giving a light smile, looking at Leo and Ash. Hope checked her phone and looked at the time.

"We should probably get back, part two is going to start soon." she said, and with that, we went to the front and paid. We got back to the campus and all went to the turf.

"Mind if we watch?" Ash said, earning a head nod and a large grin from Leo. I don't see why not. Having them there doesn't seem so bad. It will probably drive me to push myself even harder.

"I'd love an audience. You'll have to sit in the bleachers though." I said. They headed off and sat on the bottom row. Leo pumped his fist in the air and hollered. I couldn't help but smile at his goofiness.

Throughout the tryouts I was focused on getting the best touches. I wanted to be flawless. We got into the full field scrimmages and I was staying on the turf.

If you stay on the turf, that means that the varsity coach has her eyes on you. You could very well be considered for the team. My place was guaranteed since I have a captain spot, but I remember staying on this turf as a freshman and being very intimidated by the older players.

"Alright, it's simple, you already have either a blue or a yellow pullover on, that's your team." the coaches said to their groups before going to the other fields. Hope and I were both wearing blue.

I had blue 1 and she had blue 2. The rest of the numbers for blue went in alphabetical order starting at 3. Yellow just started at 1. The teams went to their sides and quickly discussed positions.

We went out for the kick off and I took my place at left midfield. My place. No one else's. I looked the yellow team which Kelley was on. I saw her walk on, talking to someone.

That someone was Alex. Kelley stopped at defense and Alex walked all the way up to the circle. Forward. I looked at her, but she never looked back.

The whistle was blown and all hell broke loose. Thank god we have two medical trainers and a room next to the guys locker room for anyone who got injured. A lot of injuries happen during tryouts.

Last year a girl tore her ACL. It was horrible. Percy, one of the trainers, had to call an ambulance to come get her to the hospital. I remember having my mom sign the form saying which hospital to take me to and what number to call.

It was 0-0 and everyone just wanted a goal from either team. Hope was blocking all of the shots and no one has been connecting with the crosses either I or the other outside have been sending.

I got the ball on the line and easily megged the sophomore coming at me. I went to cross when Kelley slid into the ball and got it out along the end line.

Corner kick. I decided to have the other girl take it. I went in the box and stood next to a girl who was marking me hard. I moved around slightly and she was right there with me.

The ball was sent and I got my head on it, then got knocked down by the girl while I was in the air. I spun back and to the side, landing hard on my shoulder.

But the only sound that justified the pain was the sound of the ball hitting the net. I laid on the ground while some of my teammates ran to me yelling and congratulating me.

I got up slowly and returned their highfives. I rolled my shoulder to work out some of the soreness. I looked to Leo who had his arms out signifying a plane.

I jokingly jogged back to my position for the reset while doing that exact thing. Nothing else really happened after. The final whistle blew on our field when everyone else came back.

Day one of two is complete. I went to my bag and slung it over my left shoulder. The one that wasn't suffering at the moment.

"Meet you back at home, I need some ice." I said as Ash and Leo walked over to me. They nodded and headed for the parking lot.

"Nice goal." she said. I turned to face the blue eyed beauty. She was glowing, not just because she was sweating. Well, probably mostly because of that.

"Thanks." I said simply. She looked at me and we sat in a semi awkward silence. I've been in worse.

"Can we still have that talk?" she asked. I did say we'd talk later didn't I? I'm just so exhausted.

"Yea sure." I said giving in. I wasn't sure if I wanted to deal with this right now. "I'm going to Percy so we can talk on the way there and back."

"Are you okay?" she asked. I could hear the slight bit of worry in her voice. Maybe she was starting to care about me again.

"Yea, I'm fine. Just landed on my shoulder. Probably needs to get rolled out and iced." I said shrugging, immediately regretting making the motion. I stopped and let out a shaky breath.

Why is it that I caught myself by surprise when I not only talked about the shoulder injury, but full well knew shrugging uses my shoulders. What the hell brain? Why though.
