Oh god, another school year already. What will the eighth grade be like? Will any of my so called "friends" be there? I think to myself, Raelin, stop worring your butt off. When I get to school, I immediately see my best friend from last year.

"Hi Kenzi!" I say.

"Oh hey, Raelin. Let's compare classes," Kenzi says with a bored look on her face.

"Okay, sure. Sounds good."

When I see her classes, we don't have anything together. I am relieved in a way. We stand there in awkward silence for a couple of moments.

When the bell for first period rings, I am off to my history class. Right when I look up, I see Brett. My heartbeat quickly doubles. I think, No! This cant be happening. I haven't talked to Brett since the 6th grade. I have a strong feeling that this is going to be one of my least favorite classes. I need a distraction so I quickly turn around and pretend that I never saw him.

This day is such a drag. At least I don't have any other classes with Brett. Oh well, I'll just deal. When I step into the car to go home, my mom says excitedly, "Raelin! How was school?"

"Um, it was pretty good, Mom," I was actually thinking of Brett. Suddenly my mom blurts out excitedly,

"Raelin, look. Isn't that Wren?" I quickly look over and see that it actually is Wren.

"Well, roll down your window and say hi!" says my mom.

"Um no thanks....stop rolling the window down....Mom stop....ugg this is so awkward."

I think to myself, Can this day get any worse? Ooops spoke too quickly. As I look over, my mom has her head out the window and is yelling out to Wren:

"Hi Wren! Its Raelin's mom!"

As Wren looks over at me, I see a total look of confusion and awkwardness. I really hope he doesn't hate me. My mom can be super weird and annoying. Grr. Now I have to dig myself out of this commotion. Phew. Hopefully he won't hate me for embarrassing him.

"Mom! Why did you do that?!?!" I yell.

"Because I thought you guys were friends and I wanted to say hi to a family friend."

"Well, you really embarrassed me."

"I"m sorry honey you felt embarrassed," my mom said. I think that she felt really bad about it.

"Fine Mom, I accept your appology," I finally say.

"Good, good. Now how about a nice frozen yogurt from Coco Swirl?" she asks. This usually is her way of saying sorry.

"Sure, Mom sounds good."

After we finish our yogurt, I see Styles for Less. Hmmm, I really need a new skirt.

"Mom, can I please go into Styles for Less really quick? I need to get something. You don't have to come in.

"Fine, but you only have ten minutes."

"Okay. I'll be quick," I say as I disappear into the store. When I'm inside, I immeadiately spot the most wonderful, gorgeous skirt I have ever seen. I HAVE to buy it. I pay for the skirt and head for the car. We drive away to go home.
