It had been about a year since I had talked to or seen Wren. We hadnt kept up with texting or phone calls. I missed him but not not enough to keep in contace. The only way I had seen him was through instagram, and it wasnt all that detailed. Freshman year was going pretty great so far. It's not as bad as everyone says it is. The seniors don't actually throw food at you, or push you into trash cans. Well most of them don't.
In my pe class I have been noticing this really cute guy. I think his name is Matt. I am noticing that we have a lot of things in common. We walk the same, and have the same kind of personality. But I haven't really gotten to the point of talking to him. I can tell it's going to be just that kind of relationship between us. If there is going to be a relationship. He seems like this kind of guy that is shy and doesn't know how to make the first move. At least that's what I've heard about him. I guess I'll have to be bold and make the first move.
I have been noticing that I'm making a lot of new friends lately. Especially in German and creative writing. what you have to do is just walk up and say hi. that's the first move to every friendship. in German my friend is Ben, and in creative writing my friends are Davis, Lee, Bailey and Joe. I first started talking to Joe one day when he joined our class from a different class. He came in and I just said hi. that moment really proved to me that it's so easy to meet new people. Surprisingly all of them are seniors and I'm just a freshman. Ben has a different kind of attatude then the rest of them. I would say that he's more sexual than the rest. Not that thats a bad thing, just sometimes I catch him looking at my butt and flirting, but he has a girlfriend. Sometimes I even catch her giving me dirty looks. I could guess why. If I caught my boyfriend (nonexistant) looking at a girl, freshman of all things, I wouldnt give him a secong thought.

And also, its not like i'm exactly pushing him away. I wouldnt say i was interested, but i for sure wasnt not interested. High school is the time to try new things, make memories.

A couple of weeks later it was New Years Eve and I got a call from Victoria asking if I would want to spend the night. She said her parents were having a party so we could just chill in her room and hang out. Of course I said yes because who wouldnt want to hang out with their friends of New Years! Usually  would just spend it at home with my family, but I wanted this year to be different.

Right before I left I remembered what she said to bring over text. The skateboards! We were in for a lot of fun that night. When I got there, we put the skateboards down on her front walkway so we could ride them later, and went in. Victorias house is fairly sized and right down the street from the Middle School PHMS. I didnt go there of course, but most of my new friends did. They speak so highly of it, I even wish sometimes I went there instead of Valley View.

As the night went on the other adults started arriving. That was when Victoria and I started hibernating in her room. We came out once or twice but only for food. Meanwhile she was texting a guy named Nathan and I was just messing around on my phone.

"Izzy!" She yelled all of a sudden. I jump up and answer, "What?!"

"Nathan ask me to come over to his party!" she said exitedly but sounding a little bit nervous.

"Well say yes what are you thinking." I answer. "Well my parents probably would say no.." she said. Her phone buzzes again. "What is he saying?" "He said ok because I told him that you were sick and we couldnt come." she answered. "Victoria! Your supposed to say yes!" I pushed on.

"I dont know if I like him or not though." she said and sighed. "Well I think you should probably decide that before you keepe texting him so he doesnt think that your leading him on." I add. "Oh yeah thats a good idea."

As the hours go by and it gets closer to midnight. At 11, Victoria, I, and all of the other parents head out to the living room to celebrate early. Apparently thats what they do every year so the guests dont have to stay too long.

The time is only a few minuets away and I get an idea. It's New Years and I havent talked to Matt in awhile. So I whip out my phone and right as the time changes to 12:00, I open snapchat and send "I like you" to Matt. Right then all of the tiny poppers go off and I can hear fireworks in the distance. Oh no. My feeling of sudden boldness is ending. As my phone goes off once more my heart literally stops for seconds, feels like hours. I open snapchat again and hold my breath as I open the message. It says, "What."

I had a feeling that would happen. He either didnt see it or couldnt believe what I had just said. I had made the photo last for only one second so who knows. I reply, "Never mind." But I feel unfinished. I have to get this over with here and now. He replies anyways with, "Oh ok," Sounds like he wanted to know what I was going to say? Cant be sure with him. So I gather every last ounce of sanity I posses and send one more message. "I like you." This time I make it a full five seconds so he'll be sure to see it. For the final time, I unlock my phone and read his reply. There are two messages. One says "Oh ok." And the other says, "Great."

Great? This could go either way at this point. He's caught me at my most vulnerable point.
