I go through security, checking my phone for the time. In a few hours, I would be in New York, to get Ayana.

5 Hours and 20 Minutes Later

I give a fake smile at the flight attendant near the exit of the airplane, before making my way out of JFK airport. As I open the uber app to order one, I feel a tap on my shoulder. I turn around to see an old friend.

"What's up, Gilinsky?" I smile, seeing my old high school friend. "What are you doing here?"

"Nothing much, just getting back from a trip. What about you? What's got you on the east coast?"

Quick, think of an excuse dumbass.

"Catching up with someone." I answer, Jack nodding.

"Do you have a place or are you staying in a hotel?" He questions, me shaking my head.

"Um, neither actually." I scratch the back of my neck, just now realizing I have nowhere to sleep in such a big city.

"Oh, well where are you going?" Jack questions.

"Long Island." I answer, not wanting to tell every detail of my plan.

"Perfect, I have a house out there actually." Jack grins, me raising my eyebrows at him.

"Seriously?" I question, shock and disbelief taking over my body.

"Yeah, c'mon let's get an uber, and we'll go there." Jack orders us an uber, it coming in 3 minutes.

Things happen for a reason, right?
