Cassias POV:
I spent most of my weekend dreaming about Mr. Daniels.
I could just imagine in my mind, a perfect face, with two perfect eyes, a perfect nose, and a perfect mouth.
I imagined his smile.
Though Mr. Daniels smiled plenty, I always felt as if when he smiled to me, they were that much more special.
Little did I know that he had a pretty awful day planned out for me.
I arrived at school on Monday, anticipating 7th period History class.
After six grueling periods of gym, chemistry, and other awful things, I finally smiled and walked into the classroom.
That smile quickly faded.
"Cassia!" Mr. Daniels exclaimed upon my arrival. "I'd like you to welcome a new student to our classroom. He switched periods."
I gulped.
"Harry, this is Cassia. Cassia, this is Harry."
We both looked at each other with no emotion.
"Do you already know each other?" He asked, a confused look spreading on his face.
"Yeah," I said, glaring at the monster who stood in front of me and turned back to my desk.
"Cassia?" Mr. Daniels asked, yet again.
"Yes?"
He smiled. "Would you mind sitting next to Harry up front, since you know him? I think he'd feel more comfortable with someone that he was already friendly with."
Friendly. I thought. If friendly means hating each other, then Mr. Daniels, you're spot on.
I nodded slightly, feeling all the emotions from Friday swell back up inside of me.
I slid into the desk next to Harry in the front of the classroom.
As the rest of the class filed in, I realized that this day couldn't get any worse.
"Hello, class! How was your weekend?"
The group muttered 'good's and 'fine's.
My mouth was sealed tight.
"To start off the period, I'm going to hand back your tests that you took last week. Remember, this was nothing major, so don't fret if you didn't get a preferable grade." He said, slowly handing back the tests.
I relaxed in my seat. At least I would get a good grade today.
When he handed back my paper, I flipped it over and smiled before even looking at my grade.
But then, I felt my stomach drop.
82% it read. Come in at lunch to do corrections.
No. This wasn't happening.
I pinched my thigh, hoping that I would wake up from a terrible nightmare, that this past 10 minutes had never happened.
All I felt was a deep pain in my upper leg.
I took a glance at Harry.
When he got his paper, his shoulders deflated slightly, though his very arrogant facial expression never changed.
As I peeked around his hand to look at his grade, he flipped the paper over and glared at me.
"Mind your own business, Greenwald, or I'll have to teach you how." He whispered, loud enough for only me to hear. "I saw that you got an 82%. Nice going."
I rolled my eyes.
"At least I didn't fail the test, like you did. I saw the grade. 63%. Round of applause." I sneered in mockery.
His reaction wasn't what I had expected.
His eyes got glossy and he raised his hand, his lip quivering.
"Mr. Daniels?" He asked, his face stone cold.
"Yes Harry?" he asked, going onto his computer.
"Could I go to the bathroom, please?" He asked.
Mr. Daniels nodded. "Grab a pass before you leave."
As Harry got up and brushed passed me, he whispered something so softly, it sent shivers up my spine.
"Never do that again, Greenwald. You don't know what that feels like."
And he was right.
As he slid out of the room, I could see the tears sliding down his cheeks.
I didn't know what it felt like.
