Harry's POV:
"It's...it's huge." I stuttered, grabbing onto the side of the car to balance myself.
"Yeah." Cassia said, eyes wide, staring up at the same building I was looking at.
Danielle rolled her eyes. "Whatever." She smiled and put a hand on my shoulder. "You're amazing."
I shuttered. She hadn't ever heard me sing, so I don't know where she'd gotten that from.
"Anyway," Cassia cut in, taking a step forward and pulling me along with her. "Wanna get in line?"
I gulped and nodded.
I was really doing it. I was singing in front of X-Factor judges.
Simon Cowell.
I felt a shiver roll up my spine.
We made our way over to the seemingly-day long line.
Cassia slid down the wall onto the ground.
"We'll be here for a while." She muttered.
I nodded and plopped down next to her.
Danielle looked at us with a disgusted face. "You don't know what's been on that floor, hun."
I grimaced and lowered my eyes to the ground.
"Um...so...uh are you nervous?" Cassia asked, trying to break the uncomfortable silence.
I nodded. "I'll probably stink and make a complete fool of myself." My shoulders dropped. "I'm rethinking my decision to audition."
Her head quickly shot towards me as her dark eyes seemingly pierced through me all the way to my heart.
"No. You're here, and you're gonna do great."
She pushed herself up and offered me her hand.
I grabbed it and followed her lead.
••••••••••••••
My fingers tingled as the line got shorter and shorter.
Five people to go.
I twiddled with my thumbs as Cassia read a flier she had found about the different levels of the competition, and Danielle scrolled through her phone, her hip bent and a scowl on her face.
Four people to go.
Cassia was carefully examining a page titled "Past Winners".
"Find anything interesting?" I tried.
She shrugged and continued to skim the paper.
Three people to go.
I shifted up in line and pulled out my phone.
At least ten people had texted me with "Good luck!" Or "You'll do great!".
I quickly shut my phone off as the line shifted once again.
Two more people to go.
Cassia suddenly closed the packet and slipped it into her purse.
She noticed my jittery hands and put hers on my arm.
"Calm down," She soothed. "You've got this."
I nodded, but I still felt as if this mornings waffles were going to come up any minute now.
One person to go.
"I-I don't think I can..."
Cassia quickly leaned in and softly kissed my lips, but harder, and more meaningful than in the music store.
I felt my stomach erupt in butterflies.
I smiled as she pulled away.
"You've got this." She said, her grin stretching from ear to ear.
"Number 165998, please come on in." A lady exclaimed from the front.
I looked down at my tag. Not surprisingly, it read 165998.
I squeezed Cassias hand and ignored Danielle as she waited for her form of goodbye.
I looked at the open doors in front of me.
This was it.
