Your smile
The way it lights up the room lights up my heart.
My pulse throbs
And my heart races.
Heat rises to my cheeks;
They're going pink.
One high-five
One fist bump
One exchanged look in the hallway
One smile.
Is enough to light my day.
Light it like a lantern of passion.
I focus not on the heartbreak aspect,
But rather on the moment.
On the blooming feeling in my chest.
The happiness.
The admiration.
The love.
You put your arm around me,
You throw your head back laughing.
Only you're not aware
Of how beautiful the moment is.
Of how perfect you are.
Electricity skitters across my skin,
My heart pounds.
I want to relax into your arms,
Hug you and love you and call you mine.
Instead,
I settle for your making me
Electric.
