Pros to obscure fandoms:
It's really hard to be accidentally be spoiled
You can get everyone else to be part of it, and when you do can explode together
When you find another person that's already in that fandom it's like a dream come true
Cons to obscure fandoms:
That dream almost never comes true
It's really, really hard to get people you know into the fandom because they can't go "oh I've heard of that"
If you come across someone in your fandom but they don't know you're in it, they might spoil it
