1.) Sorry for not updating in a billion years, I'll elaborate when I'm done flipping out.

Anyways, I just finished Magnus Chase (The Hammer Of Thor) and HAVE THINGS TO SAY

SPOILERS FOR BOTH THE FIRST AND SECOND MAGNUS CHASE BOOKS

Now that the warning is out of the way, THERE IS SO MUCH REPRESENTATION AND IT MAKES ME SO HAPPY

I was reading while waiting for a class to start a few days back, and as soon as Alex showed up and was like "oh yeah, and I'm gender fluid" I legit almost dropped my book and started squealing

People around me definitely noticed, but I don't give a dam

Soooo many ships a sailing in my harbor right now I can't even think of proper ship names, right now they're all just the "S.S. STOP SQUEALING YOU'RE IN PUBLIC"

Let me spell out the list
1. Sam + Amir
2. BLITZEN AND HEARTH MY SMOL BABIES
3. Low key waiting for Magnus to acknowledge how FREAKING OBVIOUS his crush on Alex is

I love everything about Rick Riordans books, but this was so good (like every other book he's written, honestly, make him immortal if he isn't already)

And Blitz and Hearth, I CAN'T EVEN PROPERLY ANNUNCIATE WHEN I TALK ABOUT THESE TWO MY GOOD GODS

When Blitz wakes up after being petrified to being CRADLED by Hearth and Hearth cannot focus on literally anything else, like the fact his *awful son of a harpy* father is pillaging his room like thirty feet away

I can not with these two

And when Magnus, Sam, Hearth and a petrified Blitz are in the airport and this happened

"While Hearth carefully wrapped up his best friend."

And I'm here just like

"Oh I'm sorry, I think you meant to say SOUL MATES"

They give me life, Blitzstone is climbing the latter of my favorite ships, it's right up there with Solangelo, Percabeth, and Malec

NOTICE THAT THREE OF THOSE SHIPS ARE FROM RICKS BOOKS

And can we talk about Ricks dedication to his writing for a moment?

How much research could he possibly have done for this? Everything from how Boston is set up, how Bostoners talk, (when Magnus referred to someone as a "poor shmuck" I lost it) how ASL works and what were and weren't words in ASL, all the different gods and backstories, his man needs to be the official god of something right now or

Rick Riordan is the official story teller of the gods, anyone who says other wise STEP FORTH AND FIGHT ME TO THE DEATH

And his covers are so gorgeous, like hot damn I have no complaints

And even without the covers, his books look so nice, like how

Rick, I get it, you are the master of everything (including the best color schemes ever)

Including, getting Magnus to take a bad photo even on the cover of his own book. That is true talent right there, guys gals and nonbinary pals {;-)}

Okay, honestly, it isn't a terrible picture
But he looks like Zoolander (blue steel addition)

I also am (not so) patiently waiting for Rick to throw Welsh mythology into the mix, they've got some weird schist going on, and I'd get to star in a book, eating my soon-to-be-but-not-actually-a-existing-yet son in the form of a chicken

You see why Welsh would be so good for this? But I digress, I'm off topic, I should control myself better and stop rambling so I can explain where I've been with the lack of updates.

Righty then. *dusts self off and tries to be composted* Sorry I haven't been really updating, I've been doing things.

Like making gifts, reading goods, smack talking my peers, nearly freezing to death while I wait for the bus every morning (it was negative one degrees this morning where I am), things like that. I've also been pouring over Magnus Chase, as you probably guessed, but you've heard enough about that.

Oh shoot, I just realized this chapter is more than seven hundred words, I should start doing other things...hehe...

Welp, if anything else needs clearing up, don't hesitate to ask because I have no social life and will be here a while.
