They say beauty is seen in the eyes of the beholder
But i stare in the mirror right past my left shoulder
And see how the man behind me grew colder
And stopped realizing how my beauty grew older
Grown and sexy, i see it in my Chinese eyes
How i rise as swift as the sunrise
Beauty in a black woman rapped up in disguise
My, it feels good to be created in God's image
Strong and empowered like a butterfly i emerge
Like a blossoming flower I'm about to reach my verge
Never ripped up, strong like a bright colored serge
My smile is as colorful as a rainbow
A combination of colors reflecting my happiness to form a bow
And the arrow shoots past the bow and frees my soul
Freedom has made me whole
And i conquer all because i am an able African woman
I never back down because I'm not a man
But like a soldier i salute to the sky cuz I'm done
Done watching the world shoot me with a gun
Every time i rise up to shine
This time its permanent as i rise up to shine.
