In my generation, close friends become worst enemies
Toffee sweets and lollipops become cigarettes
The innocent ones, turn into sluts
Homework doesn't get done, it goes in the trash
Toy drinks and juice becomes vodka
Pecks and kisses turn into sex
I hear the older generations comparatives sound
'Remember when getting high meant swinging on the playground?
Remember when protection meant wearing a helmet?
The days when the worst thing one could get from a boy was cooties
Dads shoulders were the highest place on earth and mom was your hero
Back then your worst enemies were your siblings
Race issues were about who ran the fastest
The only drug you knew was cough medicine
Wearing a skirt didn't mean you were a slut
The only thing that hurt you was skinned knees
And goodbyes only meant until tomorrow
Changes in my generation, yet I couldn't wait to grow up
