My focus is my song

Money just changes the people around you
It doesn't change the real you
Rather you try to change the real you
In the end its like a grey sky turned blue
I remember those days when life wasn't a hustle
When we moved from mansions to castles
I also remember the time dad retired
Then mum got retrenched and was nolonger hired
I was just a kid back then and so much i desired
And i demanded for more till i got tired
Even though it was a hard time
Everything just seemed fine
Because i didn't understand life's ups and downs
I was too young and naive to take off my crown
Till one day things got hard
They got messed up and bad
We lost our maid, we lost our guard
We lost our houses, and remained with only a yard
We had no more money in the bank
For money, we began to sell our junk
I remember those times we lacked
But even with nothing, we still got jacked
Family was the one thing no one could take away
And when mum went i had nothing else left to say
That was the moment i knew how its like not to have
Life took away everything including the love
There was no money for school
Still i acted like everything was cool
But deep inside i was hurting because its hard to learn
Its had to learn how tables can turn
A bursary is how i made it through
Keeping my head up high, i made it through
Circumstances can either break you or make you
I'm not ashamed to say i haven't lost my view
Its when you have nothing that you understand that money isn't everything
There's more to this life than popping bottles and bawling
The life i'm living right now might be money orientated
But i can never forget how the building started
I can never forget where i've been
I can never forget what my eyes have seen
It hasn't always been a juicy life
It was once upon a knocked down life
And you wonder why i focus when i got it all?
Its till you've been in my shoes to know how its like to fall
Being down is not where i belong
Thats why focus has always been my song
