CLARKE:
Octavia called the Grounder "Lincoln". They mean something to each other. I can't let Bellamy torture him.
I clean up and bandage his gunshot wound, all while Bellamy stands behind me, his arms crossed and his "tough guy" face on. I know he wants to protect Octavia, but he has such a violent side sometimes. I hate to see it.
"Okay, it'll heal in time," I say to Lincoln, standing up.
He doesn't reply.
"Now, we're going to ask some questions," Bellamy says.
"I'm going to ask them," I say, eyeing Bellamy. I look to Lincoln and ask, "Can you tell us why your people are attacking ours?"
He is silent, looking right through me.
"Do you know anything about that?" I ask again, more gently.
"This is bullshit," Bellamy says, stepping closer to Lincoln.
I turn to Octavia, who is giving me a desperate look. Suddenly, I have an idea. After I whisper to her my plan to deal with Lincoln and Bellamy, she agrees not to protest, so I unchain her. "Octavia, does he speak English?" I ask.
She nods miserably.
"Lincoln," I said, trying to block Bellamy from my vision. "Please answer the question."
Lincoln is just looking at Bellamy. "Will you answer the question if he's gone?" I ask, nodding my head to Bellamy.
"What?" Bellamy argues. "Clarke, no."
"I got this, Bellamy," I say, directing him to the ladder.
"Can I talk to you?" he asks, starting to climb down the ladder.
I follow him down to the first floor of the drop ship.
"Clarke, he's a Grounder. They speared Jasper, they killed three more of us. They didn't reason with us, give us an option be hurt or not," Bellamy says to me.
"We're different than them," I tell him. "We can make peace with them, but not if we hurt them."
Bellamy doesn't say anything.
"Octavia cares for him," I say, and I continue even though I can see him getting angrier. "I know he's a Grounder, but she trusts him. Why don't you?"
"You don't get it, Clarke," he says. "I can't trust anyone. I barely trust myself."
I take his hand in both of mine. "Bellamy, you can trust me."
He nods. "I'll stay down here, then," he agrees.
"Thank you."
I go back up the ladder to find Miller and the two others knocked out. Octavia and Lincoln are waiting by the window.
"Thank you," Octavia says to me.
I just nod, hoping I'm doing the right thing.
"If you grip the window then let yourself fall down to the ground, you should land on your feet, safely. The drop ship's at a bit of an angle, so it'll just be like a steep slide. Now go," I say.
They nod at me and start to exit the window.
I open the ladder door and call. "Bellamy, they're gone!"
I look in Octavia's eyes and she nods.
I hear Bellamy climbing up the ladder, Octavia disappearing just before he's next to me.
"Where did they go?" he asks frantically.
"Octavia must have freed him, and they must have knocked them out," I say, gesturing to the bodies. "Maybe they escaped out the window."
Bellamy runs to the window and looks outside. "I don't see them."
"They're gone." I pretend to be frustrated.
Bellamy closes his eyes. "Do you think she's coming back?"
"She loves you, Bellamy," I says to him.
He doesn't respond, just puts his hand on his forehead. I see a tear slip down his cheek.
