When a guy like Cole says your beautiful - well, its hard to react to. I wasn't sure whether or not to smile cheekily, play cool, ignore it, or reply back with something equally cheesy. My time limit was literally only five seconds to think of the correct answer.
Luckily, I was quite the genius when it came to social comebacks and speech. Within these seconds, many thoughts pounced in my head. Shall I make my move by flirting back? Or shall I pretend the statement had not affected me one bit?
After a deep breathe and a beating heart I spoke. "You know Cole? With all these comments you're making me fall for you bit by bit."
I had said it. Now my future with Cole rested within his answer. I mean, he did make a move first (though I am not 100% sure if it was for flirting purposes or just as a friend), I predicted that I had a 80% shot.
I closed my eyes in anticipation ready to be hit with the blow.
Silence engulfed the air as my sight was covered in pitch darkness. Slowly, after realizing the calm atmosphere, I opened my eyes. The blurry picture in front of me turned into HD, Cole's smile was wider than I had ever seen.
Despite the silence, so far so good.
Next thing I noticed was his red face, courtesy to my comment. Just like the Cole I knew before - absolutely innocent and totally cute. I used io really question his reasoning for the whole "bad boy" image. Alas, I decided to wait until he would tell me.
The overall atmosphere, despite my totally awkward position, was very warm and calm. Weird to say, I could describe it as romantic. I've had romantic moments with Daniel but it was never this nerve-racking and heart beating. Being with Cole made me realize I didn't really love Daniel. Plus, I wasn't even in a relationship with Cole.
Finally Cole's laughter rang in my ears. Our eye's in contact and I swear, we stared at each other as if the world didn't exist. It was just me and Cole in this moment. All the stress from school, the video, and from people disappeared in an instant. Though there was no physical touch, it was as if I was in Cole's embrace. I felt warm and loved.
He stepped towards me, his hands up towards my face. He lightly placed his hand on my cheek, slowly caressing my skin with his finger. The tingling feeling left by his touch was crazy, leaving me in a state of shock.
"I guess my attempts to make you like me worked. I've been waiting for this moment for ages," Cole joked.
His words were fuzzy in my brain. "Hmm? What do you mean ages?"
"I guess i've liked you for a while."
I chuckled, wanting to hear even more. Things were going so much better than I thought it would be. "When?"
"Well," he began. "Do you um remember the time you broke up with Daniel in front of his house for being a total dick."
Oh yeah, that time. I can't believe he saw that embarrassing moment of mine.
"As you can already tell, I saw. As you realized the dare him and his friends have had, I was surprised to see you not break down in front of them. Your will was so strong and you automatically retaliated."
He took a deep breathe. "After he closed the door, I-I saw you break down. It was obvious that you cared about him a lot. For some reason, that really intrigued me. The fact that you acted so strong - but on the inside you were breaking down."
"It sort of reminded me of myself."
My eyebrows furrow and my lips pursed onto an "O" shape.
"Anyways, I was really curious about you. That's why when the principal announced that you were going to be my tutor, I was surprised. I never thought fate could play this way. I'm glad it did though."
Oh, so that's why the principal called me. I always thought that was really suspicious, considering his actions towards me.
Nonetheless, I was really happy to hear this. It was like an happy ending to his story.
"So did you like me since tutoring or since my break up?"
He thought for a moment. "I feel like I was intrigued at the break up but I truly started liking you since our confrontation with Daniel and Nicole."
"That's so - I mean, I dont know what to say," I began. "But it all ended great."
He smiled. "That's true."
"Except we're missing one thing."
I looked at him confusion. What was missing? I mean, he basically told me everything.
"Riley, would you like to be my girlfriend?"
I didnt answer. My mind was trying to wrap around this fact. Cole Kingston wanted to be my girlfriend. the guy that could date any girl in the school wanted to be with me. It was a pretty mind blowing fact to wrap my brain around.
As I couldnt get mt voice to come out, I told him my answer through my answer.
I leaned towards him, looked at his lips for a split second. And then leaned in for the kiss. He wasn't taken aback like before and reacted immediately.
His lips moved with mine in synchronized motion. My hands automatically snaked around his neck as I held him tight around me. My lips tingled, even more than his touch did.
I could feel his lips turned into a smile.
Pretending was becoming such a bore. I was glad that it was actually real. No more playing pretend and hoping for people to believe.
I was Cole Kingston's girlfriend. And I was so fucking proud of that title.
I KNOW ALL U GUYS ARE LIKE FINALLY. AFTER LIKE THREE YEARS OF WRITING THIS STORY, THESE TWO ARE FINALLY TOGETHER. I FEEL AS THOUGH IT IS A BIT RUSHED BUT I HAVE SO MANY IDEAS FOR THEM THAT I COULDN'T HELP IT.
