Chapter 1:

I sat in my car, saying my morning prayer of the day before reaching over into the passenger seat to recieve my Versace briefcase.

Life was raining down on me hard today; I cried my eyes out last night, and all I wanted to do was be held. What did I get? Nothing. How can I complain now anyway; I've never even had a boyfriend...Never had a boo...Never even had a friend with benefits. My dad kept my head deep into a book and he never allowed me to give boys any mind; boys never caught my attention anyway.

But when I turned 18? Baby, I was ready to throw it back up on a real one, okay? You know what type of play I caught? Little ass boys. Shit I had to step back and make sure I was still poppin, and I was, so I didn't understand what the problem was. I mean am I asking to much if I ask for a man with ambition and dedication, so we can come together and achieve our goals?

In the hood, pardon my French, niggas don't give a fuck about getting married. Let one his peices bring up marriage, and he'll drop her ass like a hot potatoe. They're too busy out here trying to get known as being the next Pablo Escobar, Soundcloud rapper.

"Good morning Ms.Norance." I said passing the first floor receptionist.

As I entered the elevator I walked my way towards the back, knowing how the nine o'clock traffic was on the elevator.

Malcom, the son of the owner himself, walks onto the elevator and sends me a head nod as he is the third person to join me on the elevator.

"Good morning Ms. Taylor. I'm expecting to see you at the 10:45 meeting today," he said giving me a wink that made me send him the longest eyeroll known to man, before reaching into my purse to get my bluetooth and attaching it to me ear lobe.

Malcom is a pain in the ass.  Everyone around the offices claims that he has a soft spot for me, but I know its not a soft spot. I know that for damn sure. It's in his eyes--lust. Not to mention he is a hoe; I don't want to affend  anyone that contracted HIV while you was hoeing, you do you boo, but I'm not about the lifestyle.

The bell dinged indicating that we had reached the 13th floor. I gave my hair a quick flip over my shoulder before I exited and headed to my office.

'Let the hating begin.' I thought to myself.

I'm humble, as fuck if we're being honest, and people don't like that. Let them tell it, I fucked my way to being one of the top lawyers to ever work for this firm. Statistics don't lie, so I'll let them entertain the bullshit while I continue to get to this bag.

Just because I'm a petty betty, I smiled and told everyone, "Good morning everyone, remember today and every day to come that God is love.. Rev Alana."

I unlocked my office door, and sat my brief case on my desk before heading back outside my office to recieve any mail that I may have missed due to me working from home yesterday.

"Good morning Terra," I began, "Did I recieve anything important while I was out yesterday?"

"Oh, Yes! You're father called. He said he couldn't reach you on your cell and he said it was important for you to call him back," she said before she handed me a stack of envelopes. "These came from ISU, they said these are the last of their expenses. Oh, and Miss.Taylor," she asked.

"Yes Terra?"

"Have a wonderful day."

"You too." I replied before heading to the break room and recieving my daily carmel mocha from one of my bestfriends Armani.

"Good morning Miss.Thang. I see you busted out the all black red bottoms on 'em."

"Well you know," I said taking a spin to show off my attire.
