"Babe, just let me see the damn phone!" Lucas snapped at me again. I was holding his phone, we were using the built in gps to find our way through the woods to the cabin.
"Stop. Yelling. At. Me!" I said tossing the phone onto Lucas's lap.
He pulled off the side of the road and put the car in park. He gave me an aggravated look then looked at his phone.
I rolled my eyes and pushed the car door open, we had been driving for hours. I walked around the truck and leaned against the tail gate.
Lucas got out of the drivers side and lit a blunt. "This goddamn phone is not working."
I ignored him, I walked back around to the passenger side of the truck and climbed in. I rested my head against the window. I couldn't wait to get to the cabin, the ride sucked and Lucas and I were both getting aggravated.
He stood outside the truck looking at his phone, when he got it working he got back in. We finished the blunt before he took off.
After another three hours in the car, the paved road turned into dirt and the trees grew closer together. Lucas pulled up in front of the cabin he had showed me photos of, it was even prettier in person.
Inside, the living room and kitchen were fairly small, an indoor hot tub sat in a room by itself off of the kitchen. Up the steps was a large loft area with a bathroom.
Lucas came in carrying out bags. I walked out to the truck to help him, when we had everything inside. I laid down across the couch, Lucas took the truck to the store down the road to get some fire wood.
When he got back we sat outside, the weather was pretty nice out here, kind of warm too. He lit the fire and we both moved closer to it.
"It's crazy that gabe and Abby are getting married next weekend." Lucas said, sipping his beer.
"I know." I sighed.
"Do you see us getting married and starting a family?"
"A family?" I asked surprised. "You mean kids?" No.
"You don't want kids?"
I looked at the fire, a lump started to form in my throat, Lucas was still waiting for an answer.
"I've told you my moms dead, right?" I asked.
Lucas nodded his head. "Did I tell you how she died?"
"No." He whispered.
"She lost a bunch of blood when she went in labor for me, my dad couldn't get to the hospital fast enough, I was cut out of her dead body." Tears streamed down my face, I was young when my father told me how she died. I always felt like it was my fault.
"So your afraid?" Lucas asked, he moved over to me and pulled me into his lap. "Don't be, your strong, and you would make an amazing mother." Lucas said, wiping tears from my cheeks. "I would want to wait until we were married anyway."
I still didn't know if I wanted kids, the thought scared the hell out of me, if my mom died giving birth then I could too! When I decided to call it a night, Lucas stayed out by the fire.
When I woke up the next morning Lucas was laying next to me, still asleep. I slipped out of bed without waking him.
I went into the bathroom to get a shower. When I was finished I got out and dried off.
Lucas was downstairs when I came out of the bathroom, he must have herd me because I could hear him coming up the steps.
"What do you want to do today?" He asked, he was in a good mood today.
"Mmmmh." I said smirking at him, I walked over to him and put my arms around his neck. "What do you want to do?"
Lucas bent down and kissed me then put his hands on my hips. "Let's go hunting. It's free range out here."
"No way." I said frowning. I would never kill an animal on purpose. "Have you ever seen Bambi? Or the fox and the hound? Brother bear?"
"Oh my gosh, babe, no but-"
"No. That's mean!"
Lucas stood in front of me. He was going to argue but closed his mouth, smart man.
"Let's day drink." I smiled.
"Have you seen you drunk?" Lucas joked. "Let's just do nothing, enjoy everything. That's what we came here to do."
I crossed my arms, what was wrong with me being drunk? "Then let's smoke."
"That sounds good."
I padded down the steps, Lucas followed after me, he sat down on the couch to roll a blunt. When he was finished we went outside to smoke.
Lucas's phone rang from his pants pocket. He pulled it out and answer it.
"We're out of town, what's wrong?" Lucas said into the phone. Lucas looked at me then sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose. "Is it being taken care of?" He paused. "Okay we will be back in a few days." He said before he hung up the phone.
"What?" I asked.
"I don't want to stress you out, but Anna tried to break into the house this morning."
"Did she get anything?"
"No Abby caught her and called the cops."
I shook my head, Anna hadn't bothered us in a while, why now?
Lucas passed me the blunt before he took another one out and lit it too. We sat outside most of the day, when it started to get dark I went inside to get my hoodie. Lucas lit a fire and we sat outside until we herd howling in the woods.
I jumped up and ran inside the first time I herd it, Lucas gathered up our stuff and made sure there was no food laying around before he came in.
"Scared of the wolves?" Lucas teased.
I rolled my eyes at him. "Let's try out the hot tub."
Lucas went over and pushed some buttons to start the bubbles while I undressed.
