Lucas P.O.V.

When the night was finally over I called for my car, I was pleased with the way everything had turned out. I even made three new partner ships.

When the car pulled up I opened the door for myself and climbed in. The ride home I looked at my phone, there had already been post on the internet, I shook my head. Gossip.

The first photo was of me and Marie.

"Miller, engaged? Who is this beautiful mystery girl? Sources indicate she may have been millers help, before he put a ring on it!"

I shook my head, my beautiful Marie. The second photo was of me with the four women I had been talking to before dinner.

"Miller a cheater? Where is the mystery fiancé in this photo? Obviously some flirting going on here."

What the fuck!

"Oh my god." I said to myself. Where the hell is she? I closed the browser on my phone and opened the messaging app and texted Marie.

We were outside my house now, I got out of the car and ripped the driver and practically ran to the front door. The house was dark except a light from the bedroom upstairs.

I took the steps two at a time, Marie's dress lay in the middle of the floor, I opened the bathroom door to find it empty. I started to panic as I rushed through the house looking for her.

I took my phone out and called her number.

"What?" Marie's voice cracked, she had been crying.

"Where are you?"

"You have other people to worry about." She whispered, the phone went dead.

I grabbed my truck keys off the table by the door, I tracked Marie's phone to an abandoned church outside of town.

When I pulled up beside Marie's escalade I jumped out of the truck, she was sitting in her escalade smoking a blunt, looking at her phone. She had probably already seen the things online.

I tapped on the window, Marie looked at me then back to her phone, I unlocked the door with the spare key on my key ring.

"I'm sorry, I had people coming up to me all night."

"I can't do this." She whispered.

My heart sank. "What?" This time it was my voice that cracked.

"These," she put the phone in my face, the photo of me and the four women lit the screen. "This is embarrassing. My family will see this. People will talk."

I sighed,

"You didn't pay any attention to me, you didn't notice I left! And you flirted with those girls right in front of me! I stood next to you Lucas!" She cried. "You didn't notice I wasn't with you at the dinner table?"

Everything she said was true. The way I had treated her tonight was so disrespectful. I was suppose to be engaged to her.

"I lay with you every night. I love you. You know that."

"It didn't feel like it tonight." Marie turned away from me.

"Are you coming home?"

"I don't have anywhere else to go." She started the car and pulled the door shut. When she pulled away I was left standing in the dark.

I turned around and punched the mirror on the side of my truck. I walked around and jumped in the drivers side, I spun around and turned onto the road.

*********

It's been almost a week since rumors online had come out about me. A few new ones had surfaced as well, about Marie and I breaking up, some said I was seeing multiple women now.

None of them were true, of corse. Marie had been staying with her father though. She never said that we were breaking up, just that she needed time to process everything.

I haven't left my house in 5 days, Marie wouldn't answer my calls but I would get an occasional text, but I kept trying. I couldn't let her give up on me, I needed her.

Her father knew what these rumors were doing to us, thankfully he liked me, so he didn't believe them. As for my parents, they hand no idea about any of this.

Tonight my sisters were throwing a surprise birthday party for my father, I texted Marie the details but I didn't know if she would come or not. If not I would tell my mother she was sick and couldn't make it.

I decided to get a shower and go pick out a gift for my father.

On my way to the sporting goods store my phone beeped. The house alarm had been disarmed.

I turned around and headed back home.

When I pulled into the driveway I turned off my truck and walked up to the door. When I walked in I could smell her perfume, it made my mouth water. I hadn't had her in a week.

I took the steps two at a time, disappointed when I found the room empty, she was already gone.

The next could hours I lay in bed, when it was time to get ready I pulled on clean jeans and a white t-shirt. I went down to get my boots, I opened the hall closet and pulled out a brown fox racing hoodie, it smelled like gas and motor oil. I slipped it on along with my boots and walked outside.

When I got to my parents house there was a line of cars, it looked like the party had already started. As I walked up to the house I scanned the line of cars, i didn't see Marie's escalade anywhere.

A car pulled in behind my truck, I turned around and seen it was a small sports car, i turned and kept walking to the house.

"Luke!" My mother yelled, she ran up to me and hugged me. "And my beautiful Marie!" She said letting go of me, I turned my head to the side. She came.

I just wanted to grab her and kiss her, I missed her, I love her.

She was wearing one of my mossy oak toboggans, her curls framed it perfectly. Her jeans were tight against her thighs.

When my mother let go of her I grabbed her hand and led her through the crowed of people and up the steps. I was happy she didn't fight me, because I would have drug her if I had to.

I opened my parents bedroom door and pulled Marie in after me, I closed the door and pulled her into my arms.

I bent down to kiss her she turned her head but I got her neck. She inhaled sharply and stretched her neck so I  had better access. She pressed her body to mine.
