Lazarus
"Mariah can you just tell me where we're going?" I whined as she drove down the street.
She held onto the steering wheel tightly. "Nope" She said popping the P.
I threw my head back groaning. She knows I hate surprises but she insists on torturing me. My head came back up and my eyes returned to Mariah.
"Well can I at LEAST get a hint then.... Please?" I asked trying to sound as innocent as possible.
Her face twisted up into a frown. "No just be patient.... We're almost there dude."
A low sigh went past my lips as I turned towards the window.
We entered a nice little suburb with beautiful homes. I looked at all the lawns noticing they all looked the same. I had never seen the grass in a neighborhood all cut the same length in each lawn. You could tell that it was well kept by how shiny and healthy it looked.
Moments later, we pulled up to a two story brick home causing me to furrow my brows.
I questioned Mariah, my eyes never leaving the nice home. "Mariah, who lives here?"
"Um... Y-you'll see." The unsteady change in her voice caused me to snap my head her way. I could tell she was filled with all types of nerves.
As we got out and walked towards the house, her nerves started to grow on me.
We reached the door and stopped in front of it. Mariahs body tensed.
I could tell she wasn't gonna knock on it because of how nervous she was so I went on and knocked for her.
I turned my attention back to her shaking my head as I spoke. "Geesh... Who is this person? Ya so damn nervous, it cant be that ba-" I turned my head to the door as it opened, catching eyes with the person cutting my sentence short.
I drew in a sharp breath as I stared at the too familiar face. My heart felt like it had stopped but my breathes had quickend.
My mind was on pause as it felt like the world had paused also... Like we were stuck in time as I tried to grasp the whole sight in front of me but I just couldn't, I refused to believe what I saw.
"Lj..." Tears streamed down ber brown cheekbones.
I shook my head rapidly as tears flew down my face. "You.. you died... this isn't all real!!" I cried.
I looked over at Mariah and quickly spoke. "Mariah do you think this is Funny??? Having someone to pretend to be my Mom?!?" I scowled anger fuming inside me. So many emotions at once I didn't know which one to deal with first
"No Lazarus, this IS your Mom sweetie." Mariah responded softly. She had even shedded a few tears.
I looked back at the lady and paused taking in her features.
Her Eyes that were like mine... They were glowing again... Minus a few gray strands, Her thick hair was back to its Shiny, bouncy self as it hung down in curled at the end. Her skin that was dry was now a smooth and a beautiful cocoa color.
It was like I was staring at my Mother before she had met Daryl.
A smile slowly spread across her face revealing her pearly white teeth and her reddish-orange undertone.
And that's when it hit me... It was her... No one had a smile like my Mothers. It was one of a kind.
So angelic and bright. It left her Glowing... And left you speechless.
