My Light Within The Darkness (Yami x Yugi)

Chapter 8

Yugi's POV

After we stopped at the river, we continued walking for a while. It felt like with each step, the burn in my throat got worse. I just hope that we reach a good resting place soon. 'Aibou, are you ok. I can feel your distress,' says Yami through the link. 'I'm fine,' I say and close it. I don't want him to know about it. We walk clear through the night and by the time daybreak starts to pop through, everyone is dragging. Well everyone but me. "Ok guys. We can stop till nightfall," I say. They collapse in heap of bodies and fall asleep instantly.

I shake my head and see Yami still standing there. "You're not tired," I say. "Yes, but my concern right now is you. Now I felt your distress through the link. Tell me what's going on Yugi," he says. I look at the sleeping mound that is my friends then grab Yami's hand and lead him towards the trees that line our path. Once we've made our way into the trees I stop. "Yugi, what is it? Whatever it is, you can tell me my Hikari. I will always love you," he says. I turn and look at him. I lift my hand and caress his face.

'When we were at the river earlier, I left to go hunt. I did end up finding a deer, but as I started to drink I found out that vampires can't drink animal blood,' I say through the link while caressing his cheek. He places his hand over mine. 'Drink from me,' he says. I gasp in shock. 'What?! Are you serious? I can't do that,' I say and go sit down at the base of a tree. I think for a second then remember the book that Caius gave me. I open it to the table of contents and start searching. 'Aibou yes you can and what is that,' he asks.

I don't answer him, but I find what I am looking for. "Human-Vampire mating pairs pg. 89" it says. I flip to it and read that a vampire can drink from his mate without causing them pain or drinking too much. The vampire isn't attracted to the mates blood as that could cause the vampire to harm their mate, but their mate blood tastes nothing like they have ever had. My eyes widen at this new information. "Yugi," says Yami who is crouched in front of me. I close the book and look at him.

Concern and worry show all over his features. "There's something I have to tell you," I say. He sits next to me and pulls me into his lap. I set the book down and straddle his waist. "Tell me Aibou," he says and grips my hands. "I learned from Caius about and extremely rare thing that can happen between two people. It's called mating. It is equivalent to soul mates. It mainly appears in vampires. What I am trying to say Yami is you're my mate," I say. His eyes widen. I turn his hand over and kiss his palm.

"I could never hurt you," I say and kiss his wrist. I look up at him and he has tears in his eyes. He grabs my face and kisses me. I wrap my arms around his neck and kiss him back with all the love I had. His tongue swipes my bottom lip begging for entrance. I open my mouth for him and his tongue darts into my mouth. I moan into him and he explores my mouth. 'Drink from me Hikari. You need it and I want to provide it,' he says through link while we are kissing. I pull away from him. "How you have that much concentration I will never I know," I whisper and kiss his lips again.

"I have my secrets. Please Yugi. I can't stand seeing you in pain," he says. My amethyst eyes meet his crimson ones. I give him one nod. He turns his head and offers his neck to me. I remove his choker and kiss his neck. "It's not gonna feel like how you would think because we are mates," I whisper in his ear and nibble on his ear lobe. He whimpers at that. I kiss his neck and nibble at it. 'Relax Mou Hitori. Relax,' I say to him. I run my hands up his chest and continue to kiss his neck. He completely melts under my touch. His hands find my hips and he grips them.

I run my tongue up his neck before extending my fangs and biting down. He gasps and digs his fingers into my hips at the flash of pain before it melts into pleasure and he moans and grips my butt. His blood fills my mouth and it is the most delicious thing that I have ever tasted. It soothed the burning as I drank, but didn't trigger my bloodlust. "Yugi," he screams. I moan with him and take a few more pulls before pulling away and closing the wound. I pant into his neck. He buries his face into my hair. His quick breathing is starting to slow down a little bit.

I give his neck another kiss before looking into his eyes. They're a little droopy from the lack of sleep and blood. 'Thank you,' I say. 'Your eyes are crimson like mine,' he says. 'That's temporary. It's from the blood,' I say. His hand move from my hips and grab my hands. 'You're beautiful,' he says and kisses my forehead. I smile at him before getting up off him. I help him up and he is wobbly on his feet. "Hold on there Yami," I say and grip him to help him stand. "I'll carry you back," I say. "Shouldn't it be the other way around," says Yami.

I laugh and carry him bridle style, my vampire strength showing. "This is so weird," he says. "Shush you," I say and walk out of the tree line. I lay him down a little ways away from everyone and pull the blanket out of my bag. He crawls onto the blanket. I go to go lay down somewhere else to give him some peace and quiet when I feel him grip my jacket. "You aren't going anywhere you," he says tiredly. I smile down at him and lay down next to him. He pulls me as close to his body as he can get me.

I brush one of his bangs out of his face and kiss his cheek. 'I love you, Mou Hitori No Boku,' I say. 'I love you too. My Aibou, my Hikari, my Mate,' he says and grips me tighter. I kiss his nose. 'Sleep Atem. You need your rest,' I say and nuzzle his neck. I start to purr for him. 'Sleep my love,' I say. His breathing evens out as he falls asleep. I run my fingers through his hair as he sleeps. The sound of his heartbeat rings in my ears like a lullaby. I fall asleep to the sound of his heart.

'Dream'

"Yugi. Yugi," I hear someone scream. "Yami," I say. I don't hear anything or any response. "Atem," I yell. "You have to help us Yugi," I hear Anzu say. "Help you from what," I say and my vision starts to clear. I see my friends in cages made of smoky tendrils that I would think would be darkness. Yami is separated from the group. I go to move, but my hands are trapped in bear traps above my head. My blood drips down my arms. "Whomever you are let me out," I yell. A figure shrouded in darkness comes up to me.

"Little Yugi. Look at you now. Look at the monster you've become. I can imagine the face that your grandpa made the night he died is the face he'd be making now. A face filled with horror," he says with a sinister smile. "You bastard," I yell and snap my teeth at him. "The Darkness that thrives within you is craving it's release Yugi. Let it out," he says and releases the traps and I fall to the floor into a pool of my own blood. He flick his fingers at Yami's cage and it disappears. "This one shall be the first to die by your hand," he says.

As if I don't have any control anymore. I look up at Yami and an evil smirk appears on my face. His eyes widen in fear. "Yugi this isn't you," he says. "How do you know that," I say and there is a hint of Darkness behind my voice and it starts to wrap itself around me like tentacles. "Because Yugi I love you," he says. I just growl at him and I run at him and grab him by the throat. "It's ok. It's ok Yugi. No matter what I still love you," he says while gasping for air. I can feel the Darkness tendrils at my feet. I smile at him though he has no fear of me anymore. He closes his eyes and I snap my jaws around his neck.

The scene changes as I hear the sound of his neck snapping. Now I am inside Atem's tomb. I look around to see if anyone is here. "This is your future Yugi," I hear a voice say. I turn to see Ra the Egyptian God. "Ra," I ask. "Yes little one it is I. What I just showed you is your future unless you change it. There is a Darkness that lurks inside you. It made its presence known when you were changed," he says. "I could never do that to Yami. Mating bond or no mating bond," I say. "Technically you and Atem aren't mated yet. I have come here to warn you of the great Darkness that's on the horizon," he says.

"Even worse than what it is now," I say. He nods. "The virus that almost wiped out humanity was created by Darkness. Now it has decided it's not finished. This won't be like anything either of you have ever faced Yugi. Your destinies are intertwined with each other. Remember to rely on him when you need him most," he says and starts to fade. "Wait, I have so many questions," I say. "You will find out the answers in your own time. It is now time for you to wake up," he says and with a flash the dream ends.

**Yay, Yugi has solved one of his problems by relying on Yami. New challenges are arising now and they will all need to stick together. I was not planning the last twist originally, but it came to my head as I was writing. Hope you guys liked the it and I'll see you in the next chapter!**
